From 9 till 29th October at Red Bull Coliseum, Terengganu Football Association, also known as PBSNT, will be participating in the EA Sports FIFA Online 3. What makes the whole thing interesting is that, Terengganu FA is the First Asian Football club to participate in a competitive eSports tournament.

Red Bull Coliseum is known for being a competitive arena for various eSports titles including FO3 with a prize pool worth RM20,000. The event will be featuring a host of big names like the Air Asia All-Stars, Team Flash and Fire Dragon.

The Turtles’ involvement also makes them the first ever Malaysian Football club to establish an eSports team with two FO3 players already recruited to represent the East Coast team.

Syafiq Hardy, CMO of Terengganu FA, said:

“We see FIFA eSports as a digital extension of our core business. Many of our marketing partners are not only looking for the possibility to advertise on the official kit or at the stadium, but also want to reach the younger
target group through our online channels. Through our commitment to eSports, we are able to create and offer entirely new activation
opportunities to fulfil these wishes.”

And Fikri Rizal, Partnership Associate of Garena Malaysia said:

“Football is Malaysia’s favourite sport without a doubt, however it is also the only sports game to be played competitively via Esports as well. As Terengganu spearheads this challenge, we hope to see more local football clubs follow in this direction as the potential can be limitless.”

Now that the local Premier League Club has been promoted into the Malaysian Super League, they’ll begin their journey in FIFA Online 3 before they try out other titles like League of Legends.

So, let the games begin.

P.S. If you were to shorten Terengganu Football Association to TFA, it can also mean The Force Awakens. Just sayin’.
