Today, Microsoft officially launched the Surface Laptop alongside the Surface Book 2. However, it should be noted that it has been in the Malaysian market for a couple of months now.

Surface Without Detachable Parts

The Microsoft Surface Laptop is available in the country in five different variants, with prices ranging from RM4,499 to RM12,399. It comes in one display size: 13.5-inches PixelSense Display, with a 3:2 aspect ratio. As for hardware, all four variants sport varying internals. There are two models which run on a 7th Generation Intel Core i5 processor. Memory wise, they sport 4GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of internal storage. Graphics are handled by an integrated Intel HD 620. The two laptops are pretty light, weighing in at 1,252 grams.

Moving on, the other two models sport more compelling specs, including a 7th Generation Intel Core i7 chipset. Like the aforementioned base models, these higher-end devices come with different memory configurations. They will be available with 8GB / 16GB of RAM coupled with 256GB / 512GB of internal storage. Furthermore, both sport integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640. The Intel Core i7 version weighs in at 1,283 grams. On top of that, there is also a 1TB version with 16GB of RAM which is exclusively available from Harvey Norman.

The Surface Laptop runs on Windows 10 S, a lighter version of Windows 10 with apps that you have to install through the Windows Store. Ports on the device includes a Mini DisplayPort, full-size USB 3.0 port, and also Surface Connect. Microsoft has also stated that its Surface Laptops will be able to last up to 14.5 hours on a single charge.

Pricing

The two base models are priced at RM4,499 for the 4GB of RAM variant, while the 8GB of RAM model costs RM5,849. As for the Intel Core i7 version, the 8GB of RAM and 16GB of RAM models costs RM7,199 and RM10,029 respectively. The 16GB of RAM with 1TB storage retails for RM12,399.
