The Mi MIX 2S has officially landed in Malaysia, just over a month since it was unveiled in China.

Premium Smartphone, Not So Premium Price Tag

 

The Mi MIX 2S is Xiaomi’s latest flagship device which was launched back in late March. On the front, it sports a large 5.99″ 2:1 Full HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080. The top part of the phone has an edge to edge display, while the bottom retains a chin. With that being said, the chin houses a 5MP camera to handle selfies.

Under the hood, the Mi MIX 2S runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.8GHz. Memory wise, the Malaysian market will be receiving the base model which packs 6GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of non-expandable internal storage. This ceramic handset from Xiaomi has one of the best smartphone cameras according to DxOmark, with a score of 97. The dual-camera setup on its rear consists of two 12MP sensors assisted by dual pixel autofocus and OIS. As for software, the Mi MIX 2S is running on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with MIUI 9 on top of it. Keeping the lights on is a 3,400mAh battery with support for Qi Wireless Charging and also Quick Charge 3.0.

For those who’d want to opt in for a higher variant, Mi Malaysia has brought in the 128GB as well.

Pricing and Availability

Now, for one of the most important parts; the price of the Mi MIX 2S. The latest addition to the Mi lineup will retail for RM 1,999 in Malaysia, making it one of the cheapest flagship smartphones to purchase now. The 128GB variant will go for RM 2,199, which still makes the device one of the most affordable flagship smartphone.  At the moment, it will only be available in Black, and can be purchased from the Mi Store on Lazada, and authorised physical stores.
