Poco F1

1/4

Poco F1 has a hard-coated polycarbonate unibody with 7-layer color processor. It’s curved in a way that it feels nice in the hand. It comes in three different color – Metallic Black, Shade Blue and Rosso Red. There is another version, the Poco F1 Armored Edition which uses a Kevlar Carbon Fiber on the back. It’s scratch resistant as well.

It has a 6.18” display with Full HD+ display. You’ll notice there’s a notch up top. That’s because it has an Infrared IR sensor that unlocks the device with your face as the password. You can hide the notch if you are not a huge fan of that. It features a dual audio speaker with Dirac HD Sound and Dual Smart PA. It has a 3.5mm Headphone Jack and a USB-C Port at the bottom.

The device is configured with a dual camera setup – a primary 12MP Sony IMX363 Sensor with a 5MP Samsung Sensor that acts as a depth sensor. The setup is similar with the Redmi Note 5. It also has a Real-time AI photography where it identifies what you shoot and captures accordingly. On the front, it has a 20MP Selfie camera with the support for AI Beautify.

Performance

Starting off with the performance, the Poco F1 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 clocked in at 2.8GHz. As for the GPU, it houses an Adreno 630 to make gaming smooth and snappy. To make sure that the system stays cool at all time, they have implemented the technology – where they placed the copper heat sync and vapor to dissipate the heat. They call it the LiquidCool Technology. This allows to maintain the phone a higher clock speed with a good thermal.

Moving on to the battery life, the Poco F1 has a whopping 4000 mAh battery which offers full-day battery life even under heavy load. Thanks to the support for Quick Charge 3.0, you can charge your phone faster than ever. They have also included a QC 3.0 Adapter in the box. It also supports 4G+ and Dual VoLTE for those who wants the best connection possible. The Poco F1 is configured up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and a 256GB UFS2.1 Storage. If you still want to expand your memory, there’s an SD Card slot that supports upto 256GB.

UI and UX

The Poco F1 uses a MIUI for Poco. It has a dedicated Poco Launcher – which has an app drawer and you can customize it the way you like. It has the capability to categorize all the app within the app drawer – by type and color. You can now install third party icon packs from Play store and use it right away. The launcher will be available as a beta on Google Play starting 29th August 2018.

It has a Turbocharged engine that allows you to have faster app startup, foreground app and a smoother swiping experience. It will be getting Android Pie real soon. Rejoice Custom ROM folks, because they are going to make an Open Source which will be available on GitHub.
