After months of rumours and leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has officially been launched! While not much has changed on the outside, Samsung has certainly equipped its latest flagship with the latest and greatest internals.

Packed To The Brim With Hardware

On the front, the Galaxy Note 9 packs 6.4-inch of screen real estate, with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels. This translates to an aspect ratio of 18.5:9, and of course comes with an Infinity display. On the back, the camera module is up top, placed in the centre, while the fingerprint scanner is directly beneath it. Powering the handset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, though Malaysia will receive the variant with the Exynos 9810. When it comes to memory, the Galaxy Note 9 will come with 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. Also, there’ll be an 8GB of RAM variant with 512GB of storage. As usual, microSD card expansion is included, and it can be expanded up to 2TB.

This year, Samsung isn’t shying away from large batteries, and has included a 4,000 mAh battery. Don’t worry as it still follows the 8 step battery safety protocol. It charges via USB Type-C with support for Adaptive Fast Charging. On the back, there’s a dual-camera setup consisting of 12MP shooters, similar to that found on the Galaxy S9 Plus.  Also, this IP68-certified device maintains the rather rare 3.5mm headphone jack.

Software & S-Pen

The major upgrade is the S Pen. It now features a Bluetooth where now you can use it beyond the display. The S Pen takes about 40 seconds to charge and lasts for 30 minutes. With that said, now you can use it as a camera shutter or you can even use it as a pointer for your presentation.

While Android 9.0 Pie was just launched a few days back, the Galaxy Note 9 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo. Bixby 2.0 is also featured on the smartphone, which is a significantly improved version of the original Bixby. AR Emoji is also part of package, along with other Samsung features such as Intelligent Scan which combines facial recognition with iris scanning.

The Galaxy Note series has always stood out from the rest due to the S-Pen and this time around is no different. Like the previous S-Pen, this version comes with 4,096 of pressure sensitivity levels.
