Xiaomi Malaysia has officially launched its most anticipated mid-range lineup for 2019 in the form of the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi 7. Both devices pack rather impressive specs at their respective price points.

Redmi Note 7

1/5

The Redmi Note 7 is the more premium of the two phones and happens to sport similar specs to the Mi A2. For starters, it is equipped with a 6.3-inch LCD COG display with an FHD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080. Like most devices these days, it comes with a notch, though it is rather small. Under the hood, it packs last years Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and this is backed by an Adreno 512 GPU. Memory wise, it comes in three configurations of 3GB + 32GB, and 4GB + 64GB / 128GB. Both variants support storage expansion of up to 256GB via a microSD card. When it comes to cameras, the Redmi Note 7 sports a dual camera setup on its rear consisting of an f/1.8 48MP primary shooter and a secondary 5MP depth sensor. It supports steady handheld night photography but this will arrive in a later software update. Meanwhile, selfies are handled by a 13MP shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.

Keeping the lights on is a large 4,000mAh non-removable battery which can be juiced up via USB Type-C and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0. This dual SIM phone thankfully keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack. For software, the Redmi Note 7 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top of it. It will be available in three colors: Space Black, Neptune Blue, and Nebula Red.

Redmi 7

Next up, we have the Redmi 7 which is a more watered down version of its larger sibling. From the get-go, we have a marginally smaller screen here, measuring at 6.26-inches, and it’s an IPS LCD. It has a resolution of 720 x 1520, and it too comes with a notch. When it comes to processing power, the handset has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 clocked at 1.8GHz and an Adreno 506 GPU. It comes in the same memory variants as the Redmi Note 7. It also sports the same camera setup but it rocks a 12MP Primary Sensor along with a 2MP Depth Camera. However, its selfie camera is an 8MP shooter, and it charges via micro-USB which is a letdown honestly. On top of that, its battery capacity is also the same as the Redmi Note 7. When it comes to software, the Redmi 7 runs on Android 9.0 Pie but interestingly it comes with MIUI 9 instead of 10.

Pricing and Availability

The Redmi Note 7 will be available in three different variants as we mentioned earlier and will be going for RM 679 for the 3 + 32GB, RM 799 for the 4 + 64GB and finally RM 949 for the 4 + 128GB respectively.

Whereas the Redmi 7, it will be priced at RM 499 for the 2+16GB and RM 599 for the 3 + 32GB variant respectively. Both the phones will go on sale starting this 27th March.
