Over here at Computex 2019, Dell just released refreshed products across the board, and its renown gaming series, Alienware happens to have been upgraded as well. The gaming notebooks Alienware m15 and m17 have been refreshed in a big way. So what’s new? Read on to find out.

New Legend Design

Previously, only the m17 had a Legend industrial design language, but that has since trickled down to the m15 as well. Both notebooks also have improved keyboards and touchpads, with newly shaped keys and a precision-point glass touchpad.

The Alienware m15 and m17 are rather similar in terms of hardware, except for the dimensions and display size. Both laptops come in multiple processor options, which are 9th Generation Intel Core chipsets. They are i5-9300H, i7-9750H, i9-9880H and i9-9980HK. These chipsets are backed up by either 8GB or 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Also, there are a number of storage configurations consisting of single and dual storage. Single storage configurations consist of 256GB SSD, 512GB SSD,1TB SSD, and 2TB SSD. On the other hand, the dual storage configurations are 512GB RAID0 (2x 256GB PCIe M.2 SSDs), 1TB RAID0 (2x 512GB PCIe M.2 SSDs), 512GB Intel Optane M2 SSD + 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD, 2TB RAID0 (2x 1TB PCIe M.2 SSDs), and 4TB RAID0 (2x 2TB PCIe M.2 SSDs).

Being gaming laptops, these devices pack NVIDIA GeForce graphic cards, and also come in variety. The ones available are the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 / 1660 / 2060 / 2070 / 2080, which come with up to 8GB of RAM. These magnesium alloy built laptops come with multiple ports including 1x Alienware Gaphics Amplifier, 1x DC power input, 1x Thunderbolt 3, 1x ethernet port, 3x USB 3.1, 1x HDMI 2.0b, 1x Mini-display 1.4, and also 1x Audio out.

Now, for the differences. The Alienware m15 comes with a 15.6-inch FHD 60Hz display, with a 240Hz display option. There’s also an OLED UHD variant with a screen refresh rate of 60Hz. Moving on to the Alienware m17, it has a 17.3-inch FHD 60Hz display, and also a 144Hz variant. The m15 weighs 2.16kg while the bigger sibling weighs 2.63kg. Both are available in two colours, Lunar Light, and Dark side of the Moon. When it comes to pricing, the Alienware m15 and m17 starts at $1,499.99. These devices will be available from June 11 onwards, though local availability has yet to be announced.
