Xiaomi has been churning out many phones over the past few months, with the likes of the Mi 9, Redmi Note 7, and Mi 9SE being released in Malaysia. Now, the Chinese manufacturer has just launched the Xiaomi Mi 9T, which is known as the Redmi K20 in China, but is sold as the Mi 9T overseas.
A Plan To Terminate Its Rivals
So what’s packed in the latest offering from the Mi 9 series? Well, for starters it comes with a rather large 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display packed in a small body. Protecting the front is Corning Gorilla Glass 5, with rounded display corners. Fortunately, there is no sign of a notch, thanks to the front-facing camera being a pop-up one, though moving parts may introduce complications in the future. The rear panel of the device comes with a dynamic holographic back design though this is limited to the Flame Red and Glacier Blue. The Carbon Black variant comes with a Kevlar design, though it is a smooth glass finish. When it comes to hardware, the Mi 9T is one of the first few phones to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 quad-core processor backed by an Adreno 618 GPU. Memory wise, it runs on 6GB of RAM with 64GB / 128GB of internal storage.
For optics, users get a triple-camera setup consisting of a 13MP ultra wide-angle lens, a 48MP primary lens, and an 8MP telephoto shooter. The primary shooter is able to shoot slow-mo videos at 960fps. Meanwhile, selfies are handled by a 20MP pop-up camera with support for panorama selfies. It also comes with an integrated notification light which lights up when the camera is activated. Keeping the lights on is a 4,000mAh non-removable battery which can be charged via USB Type-C and supports 18W fast charging. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support any form of wireless charging. Connectivity options include Dual 4G, Bluetooth 5.0, and also NFC.
The Mi 9T is priced rather competitively, and even undercuts the smaller Mi 9SE. It’s priced at RM 1,199 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, while the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant is going for RM 1,399. However, you can get the Mi 9T for cheaper via Lazada on 25th June where there will be a promotion for the device. The base variant will be available for RM 1,099 on the aforementioned date.
