After endless rumors, Apple has finally unveiled their new Airpod Pro, their new addition to the existing Airpod lineup – yes, you read that right because it offers so many features under the hood that it gives users the option to pick which one they want. So, what makes the Airpod Pro priced at RM 1099 appealing? Let’s break it down.

Apple Airpods Pro

Looking at the Airpod Pro, it features a new revamped design and happens to be the first in-ears from Apple to use a interchangeable tips for better seal and sound quality. To make it better, the AirPods Pro are sweat and water resistant – which means you can take this little puppy on your active workout. This is the first time we are seeing this because the Airpod Pro features Active Noise Cancelling which uses two microphones to cancel off the outside noise to give a much better isolated and better listening experience. According to apple, they claim that the ANC adapts the sound signal 200 times per second, continuously.

The Airpods Pro has support for Adaptive EQ which is capable to tune the low and the mid frequencies of the music to the persons ear shape – now this is taking the whole experience on a whole another level and I am not too sure how this translates to real world testing, but its worth looking at. The drivers can deliver deep bass down to 20Hz and detailed mids and highs.

We have seen this feature on Sony’s ANC WH-1000XM3 which they call it the Ambient mode but Apple calls it the Transparency Mode – a pretty cool name. This modes allows user to listen to music and be aware of their environment at the same time. It uses a pressure-equalizing vent system combined with their software to offer the perfect balance. Switching modes can be done directly on the AirPods Pro which is great.

All of the features mentioned above is powered by Apples newly designed H1 chip which does more than it should as it has a brain of its own. It packs 10 audio cores and powers the in-ears up. According to Apple, they claim that it offers extremely low audio processing latency – thus enabling real-time noise cancellation, greater sound quality, responsive “Hey Siri” and a better battery life.

Apple claims that it can offer up to 4 and an half hour of listening time in your ears and the case can charge the Airpods Pro for up to 24 hours of listening or 18 hours of talk time. Charging it is as easy as placing it on a Qi-pad or connecting via the lighting cable.

Pricing and Availability

The Apple AirPods Pro are priced at RM 1,099 for the Malaysian market and its sold for $249 in US. As for the availability, it will be available starting this 30th October and you can get your hands on these headphones in no time. Click here to head over to Apple.com.

Personally, I think just having it in-ears for 4 and half hour is a short time to spend compared to other contenders in the market where they offer battery life upto 8 hours in-ear. Well, if it gives a good experience, I don’t see a reason not to purchase. We shall see.
