DJI’s latest drone, the DJI Mavic Mini is now available in Malaysia! This comes just a week after its global launch, which is rather quick.

The everyday FlyCam

Dubbed the everyday FlyCam by DJI, it is one of the company’s lightest offerings, weighing in at only 249g. This makes it lighter than the Spark, as well as the Mavic Air. Its siblings weigh in at 300g and 403g respectively. At such a weight, the Mavic Mini is slightly heavier than most large screen smartphones, which is not heavy at all. This foldable drone is equipped with a 12MP f/2.8 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor with an 83-degree field of view. It is able to record videos up to 2.7K (2,720 x 1,530). The camera setup is supported by a 3-axis gimbal for stabilisation.

While it is a light machine, the Mavic Mini has a flight time of 30 minutes thanks to its 2,600 mAh battery. It can also fly as high as 3,000m above sea level with a maximum speed of 13m/s when Sports mode is engaged. It can also ascent at 4m/s and descent at 3m/s. The range for live video feed is up to 4km. Being a DJI drone, the Mavic Mini comes with a number of useful features such as Quickshots. This allows users to capture pretty cinematic footage with just a few taps on a smartphone. However, not all Quickshots are available, which is a payoff for its nimbleness.

One of the downsides of the Mavic Mini is the lack of the obstacle avoidance feature present on larger DJI drones. This feature is very useful for newbie drone pilots as it can save many from an accidental collision with a trees, or other obstacles.
