A Closer Look at the Upcoming HONOR 9X Pro

HONOR Malaysia confirmed the arrival of the upcoming HONOR 9X Pro into the Malaysian Market and it happens to be the successor to the 9X which we saw a while back and we reviewed here as well. Not just that, HONOR Malaysia was kind enough to invite us over to take a closer look at the new 9X Pro before it even hits the Malaysia shores and here’s what you need to know about it and what we think about the device so far.

HONOR 9X Pro

Let’s get the specification out of the way, shall we? There are three main things to talk about with the HONOR 9X Pro – first is the processor, which the HONOR 9X Pro runs on Kirin 810 Chipset. Second is the Storage and the RAM – which comes with 6GB and a whopping 256GB Internal with expandable storage. Finally, they claim to have included Liquid Cooling into the system for better thermals. Other than that, the rest of the specs is as what you’d expect:

  • 6.59” HONOR Full View Display FHD+
  • 48MP Main Camera | 8MP Super Wide Angle | 2MP Depth Sensor
  • Front Popup 16MP Camera
  • 4000mAh Battery with Type-C Charging Port

Our First Look

1/7

The moment we held the phone in our hands, truth be told – it does have a really nice solid feel to it which make it nice to hold and to use as well. As we got the hands on their Purplesque color gradient, it has the similar, if not better Dynamix X Design from the HONOR 9X. Not only that, to improve the ergonomic on this phone, they have moved the fingerprint sensor to a much easier to reach spot – a side mounted fingerprint sensor respectively, which is something I personally prefer over the rear sensor. But truth be told, any physical fingerprint sensor is better any day over an on-screen sensor.

Now yes, you might have a question on one thing in particular – and, the answer is yes. This phone does not come with Google Play Service but instead comes with Huawei Mobile Services on top of EMUI 9.1 on top of Android 9. There’s a lot of debate when it comes to this particular topic – whether if its any good or not and to put that to test, we will be experimenting something real soon to see if not having Google at all does affect our day to day usage.

We don’t have any updates on the pricing and when its going to be available but for what it’s worth, it feels like a really nice phone. I know I have not tested it yet, but if it had Google Services – this would sell like hot cakes.

Thanks to HONOR Malaysia for having us over for this quick Hands on the upcoming HONOR 9X Pro. Stay tuned for more information here at The Adventures of Vesper.
