The HUAWEI MatePad Pro was launched in Malaysia last month with much fanfare, packing impressive features in an attractive design with a price to match. Not wanting to let the hype go to waste, HUAWEI Malaysia looks to expand its line-up of tablets with the MatePad and MatePad T, designed to be learning and entertainment companions that aims to deliver an immersive experience to users.

HUAWEI MatePad

The brand new MatePad features a familiar design that consumers are accustomed with and loved, with a premium enclosure that weighs in at only 450g and narrow bezels to reach a 84% screen-to-body ratio. The signature FullView Display on the MatePad is a 10.4” unit sporting a 2K resolution with heightened image quality, colour saturation and sharpness through HUAWEI’s proprietary ClariVu Display Enhancement technology while sporting TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light to keep eye fatigue to a minimum

The tablet is powered by HUAWEI’s own Kirin 810 AI octa-core processor manufactured on a 7nm process node, which includes two A76 cores and six A55 cores, combined with a Da Vinci NPU for AI processing and sophisticated smart features for an enriched user experience. The MatePad comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 7,250 mAh battery that promises enduring battery life with HUAWEI’s software optimisation.

The MatePad comes with four high amplitude speakers tuned by Harman-Kardon and capable of 3D stereo sound effects with Histen 6.0. A quad microphone array is included and supports noise reduction and sound pick-up within five metres. The FollowCam function of the 8-megapixel wide-angle front camera with 107° FOV allows tracking of a moving subject and adjusts the screen accordingly. Gesture controls such as Smart View, Spotlight Mode and Camera Gestures are also supported on the front camera.

For enhanced productivity, the MatePad supports the use of a smart magnetic keyboard and HUAWEI’s M-Pencil for writing out notes or drawing out spontaneous inspirations. Being the first tablet to support eBook mode, users can adjust the contrast, brightness, definition and saturation for a user-optimised reading experience. Other intuitive features include HUAWEI Share for multi-screen collaboration and file transfer between HUAWEI smartphones and tablets. HUAWEI’s MEETime also make its appearance and allows users to make HD-quality video calls that allows interactions in the form of screen sharing and doodling.

HUAWEI MatePad T

The MatePad T is the smallest tablet in the line-up, coming in at 8” with a 80% screen-to-body-ratio, with an affordable price while not making too many compromises to meet its budget. The tablet is powered by an octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage for enough processing power to ensure a smooth user experience. A 5,100 mAh battery is included to provide enough juice for everyday tasks and more.

The tablet features a metallic finish and weighs in at about 310g, making it suitable for one-handed use. For users with children, a dedicated Kids Corner provides a safe and secure space for children to learn and have fun. Parental controls allow easy management of content and apps available to the children as well as the access time allowed for the apps. Four eye protection modes such as blue light filter, posture alerts, bumpy road alerts and eBook mode aims to provide a more comfortable and healthy experience for users.

Pricing & Availability

Both the HUAWEI MatePad and MatePad T will be available starting on 16th of May 2020 on the HUAWEI official online store, and customers will receive exclusive offers and gifts (subjected to availability) upon purchase of the tablets. The MatePad will come in Midnight Grey with a price of RM 1,399 for a 4GB + 64GB model, while the MatePad T comes with a Deep Sea Blue finish and a price of RM 559.
