Lenovo has been stepping their game up along side with other laptop manufacturers out there – with the Legion for starters and now we have the ThinkPad E Refreshes – which has returned for a second Generation. The ThinkPad E series is more of an entry level commercial laptops that’s a lot more inexpensive and has pretty much almost all the goodness of what the ThinkPad name holds. That said, here’s the TL;DR on what has changed and the pricing.

Lenovo ThinkPad E14 and E15

Despite the slight number change, both the laptop shares almost identical specification in terms of the body and the feel of it. Starting off with the 12 Military Specs Certification where the laptop has undergone tests like Humidity, High Temperature and even harsh conditions like Explosive Atmosphere and Shipboard Vibrations.

The Lenovo ThinkPad carries the infamous Precision Keyboard for the best experience possible. With the spacious layout and efficient footprint to make it comfortable to type, accurate and have that tactile feedback. Since it is a ThinkPad, it also comes with a spill resistant keyboard, so that you don’t have to worry about spoiling the keyboard. The trackpad is a little large and gets the Precision Drivers from Microsoft and the TrackPoint is also present in the laptop with integrated scrolling, of course.

Privacy is key and ThinkPad sure did take matters into their own hand by adding a ThinkShutter – which hides the camera while its not in use. But if you happen to opt in for the IR Camera variants, it doesn’t come with one. Finally, for the thermals – they are using – what they call the Owl Wing Fan which is now in it’s 8th Generation and claims to deliver 38% increased airflow and 15% better thermal performance.

Some of the key summary of the E14 and E15 are:

  • Narrow Bezels for both the displays – 85% Screen-to-body Ratio (E14: 14″ | E15: 15.6″)
  • One Soldered RAM and an extra slot for you to upgrade
  • Dual SSD for better performance
  • Optional Features such as IR Camera, WiFi 6
  • HotKeys for Skype on the Keyboard
  • Harman | Dolby Voice Branded Speaker

In terms of specification, the laptop gets the AMD Ryzen 4000 Series treatment with the U Series processor. Not too long ago we found out that the U Processors are extremely efficient and amazing value for money – the laptop comes with a choice of Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 respectively. It comes with its own Integrated Graphics – which is the Radeon Vega. As for the battery, the laptop varies according to the model and the variant you pick.
