Hey guys. It’s been a while I suppose because the last post I made was the headphones. In case you guys didn’t read that, make sure you check it out later. So, few days back Sony Malaysia finally announced the Xperia X series we were waiting for. And I am really glad to see in Malaysia. Sadly, they only unveiled the Xperia X and XA. X Performance is not coming to malaysia. Which is a bummer.
And today, I got the chance to try out the Xperia X at the Sneak Preview which was held at The Curve. Well, let’s not waste any time and get right into it.
So, with me I have the Sony Xperia X in my hands. Which is probably the flagship device from Sony Malaysia at the moment. This phone is rocking a 5” 1080p Display on the front with 441 ppi. We have our 13MP Front Facing camera followed by our Ear piece for calls and the Sensors.
Below the display, we see the mic for calls and recording purposes.
On the left side of the phone, we see the SIM + SD Card tray. And this time there’s no tray like the Z series which was a huge irritating factor. Inserting back is a challenge. And till today, I still have that trouble with my Xperia Z2 Tablet & Z Ultra.
To the right side, we see our power button. And as we saw in Z5 series, the phone has the fingerprint sensor in the power button for convenience. Below that we have our volume rocker and the dedicated camera shutter button which does not only help you take pictures but also helps you to access the camera even faster.
Behind we have our Xperia logo, not sure you guys can see it but it’s there. And then we have our 23MP Sensor with a Single LED Flash. The phone I am holding is the graphite Black. And it looks good. My kind of black color.
In terms of specs, this phone is rocking Qualcomm Snapdragon 650, which is from their 600 Series. Hexa core processor. Comes with 3 GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB* internal storage. The 64GB Internal only comes with the dual SIM Variant. 2620 mAh battery which they claim that it can last for 2 days.
Next is the Xperia XA. I didn’t get the chance to try out the phone. But here’s the specs. This phone has a 5” display but instead of a 1080p display, it has a 720p display with BRAVIA engine 2. The back camera is not 23MP. This time it’s a 13MP rear camera and on the front we have 8MP camera with wide angle lens (88 degree). It’s powered by Mediatek’s new 64-bit processor, Helio P10. And it has a 2300 mAh Battery, which again Sony claims that it can last up to 2 days.
Both of these phones, has Micro USB and not USB C. Which is still okay.
There’s one interesting feature in these device. It’s the Qnovo Adaptive Charging. As we all know, how Li-ON batteries behave. The longer you use these batteries, the cells in it starts deteriorate. So, here’s what this does. It actually alters the voltage and when it charges the phone battery gets handled gently. It avoids the phone getting damaged due to fluctuation of power / power surge and so on.
Here’s my Opinion:
I tested out by taking some shots using the camera and I have to say, It does look promising. As a huge Sony user, I can see the difference. They did upgrade their algorithm tremendously. And the phone is close to a flagship. I wouldn’t really label these phones as flagship or something because these two device has the specs of the mid range device.
The feel in the hands is like no other. I always loved Sony for their design and the good looking color schematic they choose for their phones. Feels premium. The front panel, has a 2.5D Curved Glass. Which is seen in new devices a lot lately.
The Xperia XA is the best competitor for the Flash Plus 2. And the X is a great competitor for the Redmi Note 3. Reason being, these devices from other companies, has almost the same specs well with one or two missing features. But other than that, it’s a great Versus. I’ll see how, if I grab any of these device, I’ll will do a comparison and give you my final opinion.
And now on to the price. Sony if you are listening to me, you guys screwed up the price for these devices. I know, great camera sensor doesn’t come cheap but still, the pricing is crazy. The Xperia X can be pre ordered / will be sold for RM 2,499 and the XA will be sold for RM 1,199.
As always, thank you so much for reading this. And I will catch you guys real soon. I know you all have been waiting for that one review that I supposed to post like 2 weeks ago, but don’t worry. It’s almost ready. So stay tuned.
