Xiaomi released this device like a while ago and I had the chance to try out recently. Redmi is one of the popular series from Mi that focuses on bringing quality hardware and build with a price tag that’s affordable. We are going to take a look at the successor to their Redmi Note 3 that most fell in love with it and happens to be the most sold device in the market. This is the First Look and Impression on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

First Look:

On the front of the device, we have the 5.5” Display. Above the display we have the earpiece, camera and the sensor. Below the screen is the capacitive button that let’s you control the device. If you see, there’s this chamfered edge thing going on.

On the left side, we have the SIM Card slot just like the previous Redmi. And to the right, we have the volume rocker and the power button.

On the back of the device, we have the camera, dual tone flash and the Fingerprint sensor. Below that, we have the Mi Logo. Instead of the normal finish, this time we get the aluminium brushed back.

We have the 3.5 mm Headphone jack. THANK GOD. and the IR Blaster.

This time the speaker is facing down wards along with the Micro USB Port whereas with Redmi Note 3, the speaker was facing backwards.

Specification:

It packs a Mediatek Helios X20 processor. It’s a deca core processor. There’s like 10 cores. Yes, a whooping 10 cores clocked in at 2.1 GHz. And also has a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. This particular device comes in 2 variant. 2GB of RAM with 16GB Internal Storage. And the highest variant, it’s 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. But why 16GB… Why?! Atleast you can expand your memory using an SD Card so which is a great thing. Has a 13MP rear facing camera with PDAF and a 5MP Selfie shooter. It also has a dual SIM.

First Impression:

On the front, it looks super premium for a Redmi Note device. It has a 2.5D glass that is curved slightly. I am a huge fan of 2.5D glass because it gives you that immersive feeling. Just like Mi Note.

Here’s where you notice the major overhaul in the design department. It’s the back of the device. Instead of that smooth one tone finish that we got with the previous Redmi Note, this time we get this brushed aluminium finish that does not only look great but feels great too. Has that premium touch to it. Other than that the camera, fingerprint sensor layout is the same. Nothing fancy.

The chamfered edge design on the phone gives that oomph. One thing I’m worried is that what if the chamfers get damaged easily.

Other than that, it is definitely a good looking device. I can’t comment on the performance because I spent very less time with the phone. It was fast when i was navigating through the phone. That’s all I can say. Looks like the rear facing camera has been improved. Color production is close to natural but lacks details. We took like 2 shots and compare it on spot. That’s all.

And that’s the Redmi Note 4, the matured version of Redmi Note 3. I have no idea whether it’ll be available officially in Malaysia. But brace yourselves. You’ll never know.
