Google has been in the scene for quite some time. They started from the bottom and now they are here to stay. Google offers various service for the users. Starting from Google Maps, Calendars and so on. As much as we love those products Google offer us, there’s always been a grey area. Especially when it comes to parents. It’s amazing to see parents working hard day by day. But they are also going through a lot of tough situations. Especially now, where we depend on technology a lot more than usual.
In order to make parents keep up with the technology along with their children, Google and Makchic, the online portal for urban Malaysian mothers, have organized a super cool and amazing session on how to stay safe online. During this particular workshop, parents and kids aged 7 to 12 joined in a workshop where they got the chance to learn some of the essential tools like Google Search, Maps, Calendar, Photos , SafeSearch, TrustedContact and YouTube Kids. More on the tips-and-tricks which isn’t just easy to learn but also fun to do as well.
Search, Plan and Snap
They had three booths with different themes. Search, where you get to know more on how to use Google on your smartphone which also includes voice search where you can ask series of questions and get answer quicker than ever. Plan Booth, demonstrated more on Google Maps and Calendars where they emphasized more on how to add in your upcoming events into the calendar just like that. And also, find the location where they want to go or even book Grab or Uber inside the app itself. Finally, We have Snap, which involves Google Photos and Google Photo Assistant, which lets you store unlimited photos and videos for free and get it organized with the help of the Assistant.
Google Clinic
Who would have thought? Google has a Clinic too. This particular clinic helps the parents remove all the clutters, speed up the app and dive in more.
Security Matters

With all these features, Google cares about user’s security and online activities. Parents were taught on how to use features like Location Sharing, which allows parents to keep an eye on their kids wherever they are, turning on 2-factor authentication for Google services, which gives them a second layer of security from any sort of breach. Google was talking about some of tips on how to be safe on the internet.
Internet Etiquette and Safety
We have no clue what’s in the internet. It’s getting scary to a point that we get contents that isn’t safe for kids. Google also showed how to be brave, smart and alert when using the internet through some of the mini games that they got to play with.
