Android 8.0 Oreo was introduced by Google in the fourth quarter of last year, and it has since made its way to a number of devices. At the moment, the number is a very limited few as most are still in the beta testing stage. However, if you happen to be using a Malaysian unit of the Honor 8 Pro, you’re in luck. Malaysian users now have the chance to have a taste of the latest version of Google’s Operating System (OS). The latest version of EMUI 8.0 will also be available through the program.
Steps to join the program:
Honor Malaysia is currently running a beta testing program for all Honor 8 Pro users, and if you happen to be interested, you can sign up here. Simply download the BETA app which is available on Huawei’s official website to get started. Once doing so, simply start the app and login with your HW ID, or sign up for one. Next, select “Personal”, followed by “Join Project” and “Available Projects”. Once signing up for the beta program, you will automatically receive Over-The-Air (OTA) updates from the server. Bug reports can be submitted by users through the BETA app.
On the other hand, if you want to quit the beta program, simply open the app and login. Then, select “Personal”, “Join Project”, followed by “Available Project”. Lastly, tap on the project you have enrolled in and tap on “Sign out”, which will downgrade you to Android 7.0 Nougat within 48 hours.
As Android 8.0 Oreo for the handset is still in beta, there will likely be bugs in the software. Therefore, it is best to proceed with caution before joining the aforementioned program.
Honor has stated that the latest version of Android comes with a host of new features, such as picture-in-picture (PIP), extensive control over notifications, and also Autofill, which will remember your login credentials to apps you frequent. Autofill will allow users to seamlessly login to accounts without having to key in any information.
