LG is doing things a bit different in 2018, and instead of a new flagship phone, it’s launching the LG V30S ThinQ and ThinQ+, a refreshed version of the LG V30. The latest offering from the firm was revealed at MWC 2018 held in Barcelona.

Different Colours, Coupled With AI Features

The South Korean company is releasing two new colour variants of its latest smartphone, being Moroccan Blue and Platinum Grey. The latter colour happens to be a refresh of the original Silver, but it’s darker than the previous colour. Both variants will display different hues under various lighting conditions.

In addition, the LG V30S ThinQ comes with Vision AI, meant to help users with photography. Included is a new QLens mode, which can perform a visual search of over 100 million objects in eight categories. This will give users info to buy a scanned item online at the lowest price available. It can also scan QR codes to improve the shopping experience. Bright Mode is also an addition to the camera interface, which will capture darker scenes and brighten them with multiple exposures.

Under the hood, the specs remain the same as the LG V30, save for the memory configuration. Instead, the LG V30S ThinQ sports 6GB of RAM coupled with 128GB of expandable storage up to 2TB. The LG V30S+ ThinQ on the other hands comes with 256GB of internal storage. Other internals include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and a 6-inch QuadHD+ OLED display. For optics, it sports a dual-camera setup consisting of a 16-megapixel camera for standard shots and a 13-megapixel shooter for wide-angle ones. It is still IP68 water and dust resistant, and also MIL-STD 810G compliant. The new device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box along with LG UX 6.0+.
