Here’s What To Expect: Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+
Quad HD+ Infinity Display
As we all know by now, the upcoming S9 is going to be the successor to the previous iteration, which is the S8. This time it’s going to be a bit different, but in terms of aesthetics, expect it to be pretty much the same. On the front, the S9 packsa 5.8″ QHD+ Display whereas the S9+ has a 6.2″ QHD+ Display. It still is going to be an infinity display, which is 18:9 aspect ratio. Longer than the usual displays we encounter.
We’ll also see Iris Scanner and Face Recognition in the S9 but on top of that we could expect feature that’s similar to “Animoji”, because Samsung recently hinted about it.
High-end Variable Aperture Camera with support up to 960fps
Samsung is pretty serious about their camera game. Now the Samsung Galaxy S9 will not come with a dual camera setup but the S9+ will. But from what it looks like, the S9 will have something called the variable aperture where it has two different aperture, f/2.4 and f/1.5.
As of for the Samsung Galaxy S9+ comes with dual 12 megapixel Sensor. We will also get OIS along with laser and dual-pixel AF for faster and accurate focus. On the front, we have an 8MP camera with f/1.7.
Not only that, this time, the device will also will be able to shoot super slow motion videos upto 960 frames per second. The only other camera that has the potential to do this so far is Sony Xperia XZ Premium.
Dual Stereo Speakers
Looks like the downward facing speakers are gone for good. Rumor has it, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have dual-stereo speakers up on the front that’s tuned by AKG. It will also come with a pair of AKG headphones that gives surround sound.
All-new Exynos 9810
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will power their in-house processor, the Exynos 9810 which is an octa-core processor clocked in at 2.9 GHz and 1.9 GHz respectively with the 10nm architecture. The Samsung Galaxy S9 will come with 4GB of RAM whereas the S9+ will come with 6GB of RAM. As of for the internal storage, both device will have 64GB and can be expanded with the help of an SD Card upto 400 GB.
Other Things you need to know
The Samsung Galaxy S9 will have a 3000 mAh battery whereas the Galaxy S9+ will have a 3500 mAh battery under the hood. It will support Fast Charging as well.
The device will be powered by Samsung’s Custom UI, Samsung Experience 9 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. As for the color options, it will be available in 3 different colors – Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple.
Evan Blass, has also mentioned that there’s going to be a Titanium Gray color available as well.
Pricing and Availability
We have no idea about the pricing but windefuture.de mentioned that, according to the indications from Scandinavia, the new models can be 100 Euros expensive than the previous iteration. That’s like almost 500 Ringgit expensive than the previous generation.
The pre-orders will start from 25th February, 2018 and will be on sale starting 8th March 2018. It’s actually a lot earlier than last year, where we got our device in late March. So, expect the device to be available in Malaysia by April 2018.
