MWC 2018: Huawei MediaPad M5 & MateBook X Pro Launched!

Huawei has officially launched the MediaPad M5 tablet in two sizes, along with the MateBook X Pro. The MediaPad M5 also comes in three variants, one of which is a Pro version.

Huawei MediaPad M5 at 8.4 and 10.8-inches

The Huawei MediaPad M5 is pretty thin for a table, measuring just 7.3mm. On the front, it sports a 2K display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. Under the hood, it is powered by the Kirin 960 processor, developed in-house by Huawei. Memory wise, it sports 4GB of RAM coupled with 32GB / 64GB / 128GB of expandable internal storage. Keeping the lights on is a 5,100mAh battery on the 8.4-inch model and a 7,500mAh battery on the larger 10.8-inch tablet. Both devices can be juiced up via a USB Type-C cable and supports fast charging. There is also a MediaPad M5 Pro, which sports a 10.8-inch display but it comes with a Huawei M-Pen. The stylus features 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, which should be great for those into drawing on a tablet.

Both tablets come with the same camera setup, a 13-megapixel shooter on the rear and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Software wise, the MediaPad M5 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI. There will be Wi-Fi only and also LTE versions of each of the three aforementioned tablets.

Huawei MateBook X Pro

Huawei also launched the MateBook X Pro, a 13.9-inch notebook with a 3K touch-enabled FullView display. It has a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, which is impressive for a notebook, though it came with a sacrifice. The webcam is placed discreetly under a button on the keyboard, and will pop out when clicked on. In terms of internals, it runs on an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 / i5 processor and a NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card. Dolby Atmos Sound System is also present, which should provide a premium audio experience to users.

Pricing and Availability

As for the pricing, they’ve announced it in Euros over at MWC. But Huawei has yet to share the Malaysian Pricing with us. Well, even if it were to come, expect the pricing somewhere close to the converted pricing.
