Sony caught our attention back at Mobile World Congress with their new smartphones. Trust me, it was definitely a shocker because they redesigned their smartphone and boy it looks sexy AF. Although I was a huge fan of their previous design language. Not even a month, the Sony Xperia XZ2 and the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact has already made it’s way to Malaysia. Let’s take a look at the device.

Sony Xperia XZ2 & XZ2 Compact

Design

They’ve ditched the OmniBalance Design for their all new design which now has a glass front and back, it supports Qi Wireless Charging and it’s amazing. The XZ2 comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 finish whereas the XZ2 comes in a poly-carbonate finish – just for the back.

Both of the device comes with IP65/68 water and dust resistant, which is good.

Display

Gone are the days with 16:9 aspect ratio displays because Sony is finally jumping onto the 18:9 aspect ratio bandwagon. The only thing different with the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact is the display size. The XZ2 comes in a 5.7″ Full HD+ HDR Display whereas the XZ2 Compact comes with a 5.0″ Full HD+ HDR Display

Under the Hood of the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact

The Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact has almost the same thing happening under the hood. It is powered by the latest and greatest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB RAM under the hood. In fact, you also get 64GB internal storage on top of that. Don’t worry, you can expand it with the help of an MicroSD Card.

Sadly, the new Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact does not come with a headphone jack. But don’t worry because these two device still has the support for Hi-res Audio. It also has something called “Dynamic Vibration System”, this gives an additional vibration to games or movies when necessary, just like how their PS4 Dual Shock behaves.

Both the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact features their 19MP MotionEye sensor that has the capability to shoot 960fps Full HD Slow-Motion video just like their previous Xperia. The 19MP Camera has a lot more power than you think actually. It is the first smartphone in the world to shoot in 4K HDR, it’s done with the help of a custom Image Signal Processor that was developed by Sony and Qualcomm.

On the front of the device, you’ll find a decent 5 MegaPixel Sensor for all your selfie and We-fie needs. Also, it has a fingerprint sensor on the back.

As for the battery, the XZ2 has a 3180mAh battery whereas the XZ2 Compact has a 2870mAh. As low it looks on the paper, it does make sense but we will tell you guys more about it in the upcoming review. Best part is, both of the devices runs the latest Android O and boy it’s so much fun.
