Xiaomi’s mid-range device, the Redmi Note 5 has finally launched in Malaysia!
One Of The Most Anticipated Mid-rangers
The launch of the Redmi Note 5 has been anticipated by consumers and geeks alike for the past few months, and Xiaomi has delivered. The variant we’re receiving is based on the model that was launched in China. It is similar to that of the one available in India, but comes with a different camera setup.
When it comes to specs, the Redmi Note 5 is no slouch, especially for a mid-ranger. It runs on a 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with Kyro 260 cores. Also, it is a more efficient chipset compared to its predecessors, with better performance. Memory wise, it packs 3GB / 4GB of RAM coupled with 32GB / 64GB of storage. On the front, there is a large 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 2:1. Sick of phones with notches? Fret not as the Redmi Note 5 doesn’t come with one! Furthermore, it comes with a large 4,000mAh non-removable battery and also happens to be a dual-SIM handset.
First Redmi Note To Sport A Dual Camera
Even though its a mid-ranger, the Redmi Note 5 sports a dual camera setup on its rear. It consists of a 12MP f/1.9 main shooter coupled with a 5MP camera to handle depth of field. As is the trend with most smartphones, Xiaomi included AI beautification for its 13MP selfie camera. Also, the front-facing camera supports portrait mode.
When it comes to pricing, the Redmi Note 5 comes with a decent price tag. The 3GB of RAM + 32GB of internal storage model is available for RM 799. Meanwhile, the beefier 4GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage variant retails for RM999. It will come in three colours; Gold, Black, and Blue. Pre-orders began on 25th April from Lazada, and will be out for delivery from 2nd May. Open orders start on 5th May, both on Lazada and also from authorised Mi dealers.
