When it comes to Sony, we are no stranger to any of their work. In fact, they happen to have some of the best offerings out in the market. This time, it’s from their Camera Division. Meet the all-new Sony Alpha A7 III, their new addition to their A7 series.

Sony A7 III

Part of Sony’s full-frame camera lineup, the A7 III is an entry-level addition compared to the A9 and the A7R. However, it is no slouch, in terms of specs and performance. It packs a newly developed 24.2MP Back-Illuminated Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor coupled with Evolved Image Processing. It also has an AF system which has 693 phase-detection AF points which translates to 93 percent of an image covered. Impressively, it is able to continuously shoot at up to 10 fps with full AF/AE tracking. What’s even more impressive is its battery life; with a CIPA rating of 710 shots. This makes it the longest rated battery life on any mirrorless camera.

Besides that, it supports 4K HDR video recording at up to 30 fps, and it is assisted by 5-axis optical in-body image stabilisation. Sony also introduced a feature called the eye AF, which identifies and locks onto the eye of a subject, which should produce sharp images. At the launch, we were able to try out the camera, and it worked pretty well. However, there were times when the camera would focus on the background even with eye AF was on. This happened when the background of the subject was rather busy with movement. Other than that, the A7 III is an extremely capable shooter, being fast and accurate with its shots. Well, at least that is what I concluded from the short time I spent with it.
