Earlier this year at CES2018, Sony Electronics has launched two sound bars, the HT-Z9F and HT-X9000F, both with support for Dolby Atmos. Yes, you guessed it right – it’s now available in Malaysia.

Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine Technology

Both premium sound bars comes with Vertical Sound Engine. This provides listeners with a three-dimensional surround sound experience, diminishing the need for up-firing speakers or ceiling reflection. Coupled with Dolby Atmos, the HT-Z9F and HT-X9000F will reportedly provide a cinematic-audio like experience at home.

The HT-Z9F is a 3.1ch sound bar and measures 100 × 6.4 × 9.9 cm for the bar speaker, while the subwoofer measures 19 x 38.2 x 38.6 cm. The two components weigh in at 3.1 kg and 8.1 kg respectively.  The sound bar comes with S-Force PRO Front Surround technology, which recreates the feeling of being surrounded by speakers. While it is best to view Dolby Atmos content to experience virtual three-dimensional sound, there is a Vertical S button to view other content and still experience the same effect. The button found on the remote causes the HT-Z9F to up mix 2ch stereo content to 7.1.2ch, delivering three-dimensional sound.

Also, the HT-Z9F has Chromecast built-in along with Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing for access to music streaming services. Google Assistant is also available, and it can be paired to a Google Home to activate the sound bar. It comes with two HDMI input, and one output connectivity, allowing multiple devices to connect.

Moving on to the HT-X9000F, it sports a different design and matches the new lineup of Sony BRAVIA True 4K TVs. It is a 2.1ch bar and has edges which are chamfered at an angle to fit against the design of the X9000F TV.  In addition, both sound bars have Bluetooth connectivity, eliminating the need for cables to listen to audio. DSEE HX (digital sound enhancement engine feature) is also present, allowing for high-resolution audio quality.
