Not too long ago, Acer unveiled their new Acer Predator lineup for 2018 back in Next @ Acer. Earlier this week, they’ve brought their new lineup to the Malaysian Market. With that being said, they’ve brought in not just one but 6 different products – starting off with their refreshed Nitro 5 all the way up to the new Orion 5000. Let’s take a look at it.
Acer Nitro 5
Their popular entry-level Nitro 5 is refreshed for 2018. device packs a 15.6” Full HD IPS panel. It now powers a new Intel Core i7+ 8TH Generation processor. As for the graphic, it houses a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB of RAM. The storage, not only you’ll get a 1TB HDD but this time it also houses an Intel Optane Memory with 16GB.
It doesn’t really end there – they have improved the cooling system by opting in for dual fans which will improve the cooling.
Acer Predator Helios 500
The Acer Predator Helios 500 is their new addition to the Predator lineup and it looks beefed up like nothing else. The laptop houses a 17.3” IPS Full HD Display with G-Sync support and can go upto 144 Hz. Since it’s a gaming laptop, they have opted in for the best in class connectivity. It supports Killer Wireless AC WiFi and Killer Ethernet E2500 via the Gigabit port. One thing to note is that, the Predator Helios 500 has the capability to overclock – so if you’re someone who wants more power, then you know what to do.
There’s two different variants.
The Helios 500 Base version is powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H Processor with 16GB DDR4 RAM. The device rocks a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB GDDR5 VRAM – that can be overclocked. As for storage, it has a 256GB PCIe Gen3 SSD with a 1TB HDD.
Their higher end Helios 500 is powered by 8th Generation Intel Core i9-8950HK with overclocking capability. It also has 32GB DDR4 that can be upgraded and has a GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB RAM as well. For the storage, this particular device has two 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD at RAID 0 with 1TB HDD.

Acer Predator Orion 5000
The Predator Orion 5000 joins along with the Orion 9000 which we saw last year. With that being said, the specs on this is a lot more toned down but it is still powerful than you think. It comes with an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 with 16GB RAM that can be upgraded. The device houses a GeForce GTX 1070 GPU under the hood as well. As for the storage, it has a 1TB HDD and a 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD.
Acer Nitro 50
This particular Desktop is for those who wants a nice desktop that doesn’t break the bank. The Nitro 50 is powered by an Intel Core-i7 Processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM. Following that, it has a 1TB HDD and a 128GB SSD. Since Nitro falls in the entry gaming category, it houses a GTX 1050 with 2GB GDDR5.
Acer Predator Aethon 500
Not only Acer unveiled their new computers, they’ve also brought in their new keyboard. The Aethon 500 houses 115 Mechanical Blue Switch for that clicky and amazing typing | gaming experience. The keyboard has a 16.8GB RGB backlight and yes, it has individual lighting. It also has a full N-Key Rollover with media controls on the top right. As for people who wants macros, the keyboard has 5 programmable keys on the left side.
Finally, for added comfort, the keyboard comes with an aluminium Faceplace with Detachable Wrist Rest.
Pricing and Availability
All of the products that was unveiled is now available at Acer Official Online Stores and authorized Resellers nationwide. These are the pricing for the following.
Acer Predator Helios 500 – Core i9 powered is priced for RM 12,999 and the i7 variant is priced at RM 8,999. Acer Nitro 5 goes for RM 3,999. Predator Orion 5000 will be sold at RM 7,899. The Acer Nitro 50 Desktop rocks a price tag of RM 4,239. Finally, the Acer Aethon 500 Keyboard which will go for RM 739 respectively.
