Mi Malaysia has launched two budget handsets from its Redmi series in the country, and they’re are already available for purchase at the moment. The Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A are Xiaomi’s latest offering in the budget segment, and are rather compelling at their price points.

The Redmi 6 is the successor to last years Redmi 5 and is the more premium version of the Redmi 6A. In front, it sports a 5.45-inch 18:9 HD+ 720p display, and runs on a MediaTek P22 processor. Memory wise, it comes with 3GB of RAM coupled with 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD slot. When it comes to cameras, it gets a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup on its rear with AI. Meanwhile, selfies are handled by a 5MP shooter with AI to capture bokeh shots.

This whole package is kept running by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery which charges via micro USB. Also included is a fingerprint sensor on the rear, and dual-SIM capabilities.  Software wise, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 on top of it. Looking for a more affordable option? Then the Redmi 6A should be just right for you. It comes with a 5.45-inch 18:9 HD+ 720p display, and is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset. Also, this entry-level handset runs on 2GB of RAM coupled with 16GB of expandable storage. In the camera department, the Redmi 6A packs a single 13MP camera while a 5MP shooter handles selfies.

Just like the more premium Redmi 6, the Redmi 6A has a 3,000mAh battery which charges via microUSB. It’s available for purchase on Lazada via flash sales every Wednesday and comes in Gold, Black, and Blue. It can be bought for RM349 and comes with 1-year of local manufacturer warranty.
