The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has just been launched in Malaysia, just a week after the Unpacked event! Being a key market for Samsung, it is no surprise we have received the the handset in such a short time.

What to know?

We covered the Unpacked event, and dived into the specs and features of the Galaxy Note9 then. However, if you would like a refresh of its internals, do continue reading below.

On the front, the Galaxy Note 9 packs 6.4-inch of screen real estate, with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels. This translates to an aspect ratio of 18.5:9, and of course comes with an Infinity display. On the back, the camera module is up top, placed in the centre, while the fingerprint scanner is directly beneath it. Powering the handset is Samsung’s very own Exynos 9810. When it comes to memory, the Galaxy Note9 will come with 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. Also, there’ll be an 8GB of RAM variant with 512GB of storage, which is exclusive to the Midnight Black. As usual, microSD card expansion is included, and it can be expanded up to 2TB.

This year, Samsung isn’t shying away from large batteries, and has included a 4,000 mAh battery. It charges via USB Type-C with support for Adaptive Fast Charging. On the back, there’s a dual-camera setup consisting of 12MP shooters, similar to that found on the Galaxy S9 Plus.  Also, this IP68-certified device maintains the rather rare 3.5mm headphone jack.

Software & S-Pen

The major upgrade is the S Pen whereby Bluetooth is now included in it. Now, you can use it as a camera shutter or you can even use it as a pointer for your presentation. The S Pen takes about 40 seconds to charge and lasts for 30 minutes. As for pressure sensitivity levels, Samsung has maintained it at 4,096.

As for software, the Galaxy Note 9 still runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and will likely receive the update to Android Pie sometime next year. The smart assistant Bixby is also featured, though it has been improved according to Samsung. Also, Intelligent Scan is available, allowing users to unlock the device with facial recognition and iris scanning.
