This time around, Mi Malaysia has brought in two new phones for the Malaysian Market. The Mi 8 Lite and the highly anticipated Mi 8 Pro which is known as the Explorer’s Edition back in China is also now available here in the Malaysia.

Mi 8 Lite

The Mi 8 Lite, (known as Mi 8 Youth in China) is their second Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 powered Smartphone for the Malaysian Market. On the front, you’ll notice that it has a 6.26” inch FHD+ Display in a 19:9 aspect ratio. With that said, you also get to see the notch up top as well. On the back the phone has this gradient finish that comes in two different colors – Midnight Black and Aurora Blue.

Like we have mentioned earlier, it runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Processor clocked in at 2.2 GHz. Following that, it comes in two different configuration. There’s the 4GB + 64GB and the 6GB + 128GB respectively. You can expand the memory with the help of the SD Card slot in it. As for the camera, it comes with a 12MP + 5MP Dual Pixel AF Camera wih an aperture of f/1.9 for the first sensor. As for the front facing camera, it houses a 24MP Front Camera, a Sony IMX 576 Sensor that gets the job done thanks to it’s 1.8um large pixels. Finally for the battery, it comes with a 3350 mAh respectively.

Mi 8 Pro

Mi 8 Pro (also known as the Mi 8 Explorer Edition) is also here in Malaysia, in fact it is one of the highly anticipated phones so far because of it’s popular aesthetics on the back of the phone. It has a transparent shell and under it, there’s a plate that shows pretty much all the component you can find inside the phone. That said, the layout on the board is without a doubt different. Despite that, it still is one hell of a good looking phone. This is also Xiaomi’s very first phone to boast an under glass fingerprint sensor.

Moving on to the specification – it houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Processor clocked in at 2.8GHz. Following that it only comes in one configuration – that is in 8GB + 128GB. On the front, it houses a 6.21” AMOLED Display in the 19:9 aspect ratio. On the back, you’ll find the same Dual 12MP Sensor as the Mi 8 whereas on the a front, it houses a 20MP Camera respectively. As for the battery, it comes with 3000 mAh that’s just enough to last a day and thanks to the support for Quick Charge 4+, you can get the phone juiced up in no time.

Pricing and Availability

Starting from today, the Mi 8 Lite will be available in two different colors and two configuration, starting off with the 4GB Variant, it goes for RM 999 whereas the 6GB Variant will be sold for RM 1299. It will be available at all the Authorized Mi Stores in Malaysia. The Mi 8 Pro on the other hand will only be available through selected Authorized Mi Stores only and will be priced at RM 2399, which comes in that one finish only.
