Acer has just unveiled its latest Chromebooks, specially made for those in the education industry. The Chromebook 512 lineup consists of two variants; the regular version and a Spin variant.
As the devices have been produced with students and teachers in mind, Acer has made these Chromebooks durable. This means that Acer has included military-grade protection for the two devices with the MIL-STD 810G standard in place. Both laptops are able to handle drops from heights of up to 122 cm and handle up to 60kg of downward force. On top of that, the keyboard is spill-resistant with a gutter system that routes liquid away from internal components and drains it out the bottom chassis. Also, the Acer Chromebook Spin 512 comes with Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass 2,3 on its display. This allows the display to resist the growth of odour and stains caused by microorganisms.
Now, when it comes to internals, the Chromebooks pack decent specs. The Chromebook 512 comes with a dual-core Celeron N4000 chip, while the Spin variant features a quad-core Intel Pentium Silver N5000 or Celereon N4100 processor. While both devices feature 12-inch display with a resolution of 1,366 x 912 and aspect ratio of 3:2, the Spin comes with a 360-degree hinge. It also features an 8MP back-firing webcam on the cover, a HD webcam on the display, and a Wacom EMR stylus. Long lasting battery life is also one of the highlights, with both laptops rated to last up to 12 hours on a single charge.
As for memory configuration, the two Acer Chromebooks will be available with 32GB or 64GB of storage and 4GB or 8GB of RAM . Availability and price in Malaysia hasn’t been announced, but it’s expected to be made available in the second quarter.
