Samsung has finally unveiled their new Galaxy S10 Lineup for the Global market at Samsung Unpacked, which happened in the heart of San Francisco. With that said, we Malaysians will get the opportunity to enjoy the company’s new smartphones real soon as Samsung Malaysia has kicked off their Pre-Order Promotion for the all new Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10+. But before that, let us share our Initial Impressions on these two smartphones.

The moment you look at the Samsung Galaxy S10 or the S10+, it still follows a much more similar design language as the predecessor – like the Galaxy S9 and the S8 respectively with the rounded corners and a much curvier body. But the moment the display gets turned on, you’ll see the real difference – on where the phone has changed and in what way it has improved.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ says goodbye to the bezels up top, leaving with a thin chin at the bottom and a small hole cut out on the top right corner. The cutout on the S10+ is bigger diagonally as it features a dual camera setup on the front as compared to the S10 which only has one. This time around Samsung is calling their new display – the Dynamic AMOLED Display. It now has a bigger screen to body ratio with the S10 coming in at 6.1” QHD+ and S10+ at 6.4” respectively. The display is still curved at both the sides and it is certified for HDR10+, which means the content you consume on this display will pop.

One other interesting thing to note about the display is the fact that the Fingerprint sensor is no longer at the back as it has been moved under the display. It’s now called the in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner which reads the contours of the fingerprint. The best part is that you can even unlock it at ease with the display off and this is interesting if you ask me.

Camera

Samsung has stepped its Camera game once more by adding another camera to it’s back along with the other two Cameras. On the back, both the phone features a 12MP Wide-Angle Primary camera with the Dual Aperture system of f/1.5 and f/2.4. Following that, it has the Telephoto lens on the back which is another 12MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. Both the sensors feature Optical Image Stabilization.

This time around, it has a third camera – which is an Ultra-Wide camera – with a configuration of 16MP at f/2.2 and has a Field of View of 123 degrees respectively. It still is interesting to see they have added another camera but it’s early to tell whether if it performs any better than the previous devices (which it should).

On the front, both the Galaxy S10 and S10+ features a 10MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/1.9. But the S10+ has another sensor – an 8MP Depth sensor that gives you the bokeh effect.

Power

Both the device rocks the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (for selected Markets) and for Malaysia, it rocks the new Samsung Exynos 9820 which is an Octa-core Processor clocked in at 2.8GHz respectively. Both the S10 and S10+ is available with 8GB RAM in Malaysia but for the storage – the Galaxy S10 comes with 128GB whereas the S10+ comes with 128GB or 512GB. Good thing is that, you can still expand the memory with the help of a MicroSD Card which is neat.

The Galaxy S10 now packs a 3400 mAh battery which doesn’t look like a lot on paper whereas the S10+ has a 4,100 mAh Battery. These two can be charged with the help of the included Fast Charger and via the Qi Wireless Charger as well. One nifty feature with these devices is that – it now has something called the Wireless PowerShare where you can use the S10 or the S10+ to charge other devices which has support for Qi Wireless capability.

You can look at the rest of the specification below.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy S10 and the S10+ now comes in a new shade of color which is gorgeous – Prism White, Prism Black and Prism Green. The S10+ will also be available in another variant which features a Ceramic Back plating: Ceramic Black and Ceramic White respectively. With that said, the phone will retail for the following price:

Samsung Galaxy S10 is priced at RM 3,299. The bigger brother, S10+ comes in two variant – the 128GB is priced at RM 3,699 whereas the 512GB, which is the ceramic version will be priced at RM 4,599. The pre-order for the Malaysian Market is currently happening right now but stay tuned for more as the phone will be available real soon. More to come.

We are honestly excited to see these new devices as it does stand apart from the rest, but we can only tell once we get our hands on the device for Review. Let us know which device you would want us to Review – will it be the S10, S10+ or their new S10e which is pretty impressive too if you ask us. 😊
