The Vostro series is known as a business class notebook, and it’s widely popular among business professionals. Being light, it’s easily transportable make it great for on-the-go individuals. This time around, Dell has improved their Vostro lineup to make it more durable, and also to provide comfort.

Vostro 13 5000

Being the base version of the Vostro series, the Vostro 13 5000 is the smallest 13-inch Vostro laptop ever produced by Dell and weighs only 1.18kg. Now, it’s easier to carry around, and durability has also been improved with an aluminum cover. New features added include the lid-open sensor which will turn on the laptop when the lid is opened even if the device is completely off. Since most on-the-go professionals tend to use their laptops on their laps, a Smart Thermal solution has been introduced to stay cool during such situations. This is aided by the redesigned hinge which can open past a 135-degree angle, allowing for better air circulation.

When it comes to the internals, the Vostro 13 5000 is no slouch, it runs on 8th Generation Intel processors, with options of i3 / i5 / i7. RAM options include 4GB and 8GB, with no option to expand, while storage is 128 / 256 / 512GB of SSD. There is no dedicated graphics card, but there is NVIDIA GeForce MX250 integrated graphics with 2GB RAM. The display up front is a 13.3-inch FHD TrueLife LED. Ports include 1x USB 3.1 Type-A, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C, 1x HDMI, and a headphone jack. With a 45 WHr battery, Dell states that it should last up to 13 hours and 3 minutes on a single charge. It’s already available from $849, and comes in Urban Gray.

Vostro 15 7000

Meanwhile, the Vostro 15 7000 has also undergone significant changes similar to that of its smaller sibling, the Vostro 13 5000. However, it is much beefier in terms of specs and comes with 9th Generation Intel chipsets with options of i5 / i7 / i9. Memory wise, it sports either 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and 128 / 256 / 512GB of SSD storage. Storage can be expanded via HDD of 1TB in size. As previously mentioned, it is a beefier device, and shows through its dedicated graphic card choices of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 3GB of RAM, and GTX 1650 with 4GB of RAM.

It also comes with a larger display of 15.6-inches and its a FHD Anti-glare LED screen. Being a larger 1.85kg laptop, it has more space for ports, such as; 3x USB 3.1 Type-A, 1x Thunderbolt 3, 1x HDMI 2.0, and also a headphone jack. The integrated 97 WHr battery is slated to last up to 13 hours and 55 minutes. The Vostro 15 7000 is also available for purchase, and retails from $1,149 in Urban Gray. However, local availability for both notebooks hasn’t been announced but we’ll cover it once it arrives!
