The 21:9 4K HDR OLED Sony Xperia 1 is Now Available for Pre-order in Malaysia!

After the news where Sony Mobile Division left the Malaysian Market, it sure was a bummer for those who truly enjoy their product. But after weeks later they finally returned to Malaysia with the new Xperia 1 with a mindblowing price tag.

If there’s one phone brand that’s taking a leap of faith and doing something different, it would be Sony Xperia. Let’s get the specification out of the way – the phone is powered by the top-notch Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 under the hood coupled with a 6GB RAM and a 128GB Internal Storage. On the back, the Xperia 1 features a triple camera setup – a primary 26mm lens followed by a 16mm wide angle and a 52mm telephoto lens – all powered by Sony’s Bionz X Image Processing Technology. It houses a 3330 mAh battery, which isn’t the biggest but should offer a decent battery life.

Now let’s talk why the Xperia 1 is an interesting phone, at least to me.

Back in CES 2019 and MWC 2019, Sony announced this phone with one idea in mind – that is, a smartphone for creators. We have seen other Xperia Smartphones in the previous years with fantastic display and the Xperia 1 is without a doubt a far more superior display compared to other manufacturers out there. It comes in a 6.5” 21:9 aspect ratio made – a widely popular CinemaWide Format among creators. It’s powered by a CineAlta which is inspired by Master Monitor color reproduction and has the support for X1 for Mobile.

So, now you see why the Xperia 1 is priced around that? It’s basically an ultrawide smartphone in your pocket. Another nice thing about the Xperia 1 is that they did not opt in for a notch and left the top and the bottom bezel as it is – smartmove.

Pricing and Availability

The Sony Xperia 1 will be available for the price of RM 4,299 and it comes in three different colors – Black, Purple and Grey, starting October 2019. In the meantime, they are open for pre-order at all the Sony Stores, Sony Centres and online as well. So, for those who were to pre-order will be entitled for a free WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise-Cancelling Headphones – these are fantastic headphones and getting it for free sure as hell makes the whole deal better.
