The common workplace PC user is undeniably familiar with how cluttered their computer setup can be with various components taking up space on or around their desk. Apple’s well established iMacs have been a prime example of remedying that problem by compacting its key components in the form of a monitor. However, iMacs usually have an expected timeline until it is fully rendered obsolete. To top Apple as its main all-in-one desktop competitor, Dell introduces us to the compact and upgradeable OptiPlex 7070 Ultra PC.
Upgradeable you say?
Indeed it is. The Dell OptiPlex 7070 Ultra is modular, thus allowing you to upgrade its monitor and hardware components. The latter is completely housed in a thin, remote control shaped casing that is stored nicely in the display stand. For now, users can upgrade the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra’s monitor to up to 27-inches in size thanks to its modular VESA mount, and could also be configured to support up to a triple monitor setup via USB-C (with independent display stands for the extra monitors, of course).
As for its hardware, the modular all-in-one is able to support 8th generation Intel Core i3 to i7 CPUs, up to 64GB DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM, and up to 1TB NVMe SSD and a 2.5-inch 2TB HDD. Connectivity-wise, the housing has a total of 3 USB-A ports, 2 USB-C ports, an ethernet port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Unfortunately, it solely relies on Intel UHD Graphics 620 and does not have a Thunderbolt 3 port in order for it to connect to an external graphics card. Since this PC is meant for the common workplace with substantial hardware to support minor video editing, it’s safe to rule out its capacity to run any form of high-end gaming.
Another new addition to the OptiPlex family
Announced at the same time as their new upgradeable all-in-one desktop PC, Dell also unveiled the new VR ready OptiPlex 7071 Tower. Equipped with 9th Gen Intel Core processors up to the new 95W 8-core i9 chipsets, the tower is tailored for businesses that use VR content for activities such as training and sales environments. The 7071 tower offers premium performance and also multiple expansion options for an enhanced day-to-day productivity.
Price and availability in Malaysia
Dell Malaysia has not revealed the local prices for both OptiPlex products, but they will be available locally by the end of October 2019. You can also visit Dell Malaysia’s official website to check out more information on the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra and 7071 Tower.
