Today, Redmi by Xiaomi has just released its latest mid-range lineup in form of the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. It has been over a year since a Pro variant was released, and it’s refreshing to see a new Pro emerge.

Redmi Note 8 Pro

When it comes to specs, the Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 6.53-inch FHD+ display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T processor clocked at 2.05 GHz. This is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage.

The main selling point of the Redmi Note 8 Pro happens to be the 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor on its rear. It is part of a quad camera setup consisting of an 8MP ultrawide shooter, a 2MP depth sensor, and also a 2MP macro camera. The camera surprisingly supports 960fps slow motion video, which should be a pretty neat feature. Meanwhile, selfies are handled by a 20MP f/2.0 camera.

Keeping the lights on is a large 4,500 mAh non-removable battery with support for 18W fast charging. Also, other features include NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also, it is protected by a splash resistant nano coating, which should provide some sort of protection from liquids.

Redmi Note 8

Next, we have the Redmi Note 8, the successor to the Redmi Note 7. In this edition, Xiaomi has made a number of upgrades. First up, it’s now powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. Storage wise, it comes in three variants, 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB, and 4GB + 128GB. As for the display, it is a 6.3-inch panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 as well. Also, the back is protected by the same glass.

The rear camera setup of the Redmi Note 8 is nearly identical to the Pro variant, save for the main shooter which is downgraded to a 48MP f/1.79 shooter instead of a 64MP one. Selfies are handled by a 13MP camera. Furthermore, the battery on the Redmi Note 8 happens to be a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging via USB Type-C. Connectivity options include an IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, Dual 4G, and Bluetooth. Similar to the Pro, it is splash resistant.
