After introducing a slew of smartwatches in 2019 with the Fenix 6 and Forerunner series, Garmin had recently released a new and exciting smartwatch experience with the Garmin Venu. It’s worth noting that the Venu is the first Garmin smartwatch to feature a touchscreen AMOLED display.

What Sets It Apart From The Competition

Aside from providing reliable GPS, Garmin also takes pride in its fitness and health features – as seen with their previous smartwatch releases. You can expect no less with the Garmin Venu, especially its innovative health monitoring features with Pulse Ox1 and Body Battery.

Pulse Ox1 monitors the user’s health by tracking data such as sleep, respiratory, heart rate, stress, and even menstrual cycles. What’s cool is that the active data gathered from Pulse Ox1 is then displayed in Body Battery to allow users to check their energy levels at any given time. If you’re thinking along the lines of health bars in video games, Body Battery’s concept is very much similar to that (just not as ridiculous).

Fitness-wise, the Garmin Venu features easy to follow animated workouts for your day-to-day exercise, and also the Garmin Coach function that will guide you with training plans for running. You’ll also have access to a wide variety of built-in GPS and indoor sports apps that covers yoga, swimming, and much more. User safety is also prioritised with the Incident Detection and Assistance feature which will send your name and exact location to your emergency contacts – if such a scenario is detected or a request for assistance is manually triggered by the user.

Specs, Other Features & Price

As mentioned earlier, the Venu is the first from Garmin to feature an interactive touchscreen AMOLED display. Measuring at 1.2-inches with 390 x 390 pixels, the display can be set to always-on and features a selection of live watch faces for a more personalised touch.

Aside from its first party applications, the smartwatch also allows you to download songs or playlists from Spotify which then can be connected to your Bluetooth earphones or headphones without the need of having your smartphone nearby.

The Venu boasts a battery life of up to 6 days in smartwatch mode, and up to 6 hours in GPS + music mode. The smartwatch supports Bluetooth wireless connectivity, compatible with both iOS and Android devices, a water resistance rating of 5 ATM for swimming activities, and interchangeable watch bands.

The Garmin Venu is available now in Malaysia at the retail price of RM1799 and sports four colour options. For those who are interested to see and try out the smartwatch in person should check out the Garmin Roadshow that is currently held at Mid Valley Megamall until 13 October 2019.
