With more and more e-wallets sprouting in Malaysia, one of the recent trend is e-commerce launching their very own e-wallet to make online shopping easier and convenient. There are two major player – Lazada and Shopee, but it looks like Shopee is taking things seriously and brings convenience to users all across Malaysia to be able to use the same e-wallet for other expenses as well.

Shopee users will be able to transfer funds instantaneously and seamlessly between their eWallets and accounts with 40 different banks and 5 participating eWallet which is quite the shocker. The DuitNow 2.0 which will be happening in the second half of 2020 will be bringing in new solutions like;
- Request to Pay
- A feature that allows users to make secure, convenient and faster payments through the participating merchants e-commerce websites and mobile commerce application.
- Real-time Debits
- Consents on File
- These two features will be focused more on allowing users to set-up payments that happens on a recurring basis, making it an easier cost-effective alternative to put credit cards on file with a merchant for recurring purchases.
It wont just end there, Shopee will also be adopting the new DuitNow QR to allow users to pay the offline merchants with no issue at all. Back in 2018, DuitNow made an impact by allowing banks and ewallet customer to transfer money instantly with Online Banking and even with the help of Mobile number, MyKad or Business registration numbers. It’s interesting to see the whole eWallet scene heading towards offering simple yet effective experience and we shall see what happens next as we wait for the second half of 2020 for DuitNow 2.0.
