AORUS, has been making Gaming laptops for a while and we got to review the AORUS 15 last round. There were quite a number of things I mentioned about the laptop and certain improvements that would make the laptop much better. That said, AORUS Malaysia invited us for an intimate session where we got to try their next best laptop, the successor to the AORUS 15. Meet the new AORUS 15G which is completely revamped from the ground up and now powered by the latest Intel Processor coupled with RTX SUPER.
AORUS 15G: Closer Look
Design and Build
The AORUS 15G amazes me how clean and classy the design is for a gaming laptop. Despite being classy, they have added some extra touch in design to make the laptop interesting – to give it a gamer accent or should I say Supercar inspired. There are little hints, like the vents for the thermal in/outtake and the speaker grill that’s inspired from certain super car parts: Front grill, Spoilers and so on.

The laptop is now completely constructed in Aluminum and the reason why they did it – its to make the laptop have a much more robust chassis – which I can completely attest to. The 15G is very solid and it is well built from the ground up. What really got my attention was the hinge of the laptop. The AORUS 15 had a hinge which was supported from the middle which was flimsy but the 15G hit the right spot with a solid hinge that feels safer and well put together. The color of the AORUS 15G in Grey, man – beautiful. By the way, coming in at 2.2kg, the AORUS 15G claims to be the world’s lightest laptop.
Quite the Upgrade
The 15G now rocks a 240Hz display with 4ms response time and the bezel of the laptop is crazy thin. It’s now 3mm thinner with an 89% Screen-to-body ratio making it quite the immersive display. It uses an adaptive sync technology to give the best experience possible. They have added a bezel bumper, giving a little gap to make sure the display doesn’t get damaged – a very thoughtful design. It’s calibrated with X-RITE Pantone colors and has an accuracy of Delta E<1.
The membrane keyboard is gone for good and they have included the next best thing – a mechanical keyboard. It uses an Omron Blue Switch with a key travel of 2.5mm and an actuation point at 1.6mm – which makes it a low-profile keyboard. Since it’s a blue switch, you get the clicky sound with a very nice tactile feel as you type on it. Another noticeable design is that they keys are curved to make it a lot easier to type on – something you shouldn’t take for granted, trust me. Yes, it still has RGB and it uses an exclusive concentric design to make the lights shine evenly. AORUS uses their signature RGB Fusion 2.0 for their RGB control.

The thermals on the 15G has gotten a huge upgrade as well. The laptop comes with their new WINDFORCE Infinity Cooling system which claims to give 30% better cooling efficiency and lets the laptop hit complete 100% performance while maintaining a stable and quiet thermal. The laptop has a 94Wh Lithium Polymer battery that claims to last for up to 8 Hours.
Specification

Now that the embargo has been lifted, the new AORUS 15G comes with the all new Intel Core i7-10850H – their new 8 core processor with a clock speed of whopping 5.1GHz. There’s a higher variant where users can choose between an 10th Gen i7 or an i9. As for the GPU, its one of the few laptops right now in the world to come equipped with the latest NVIDIA RTX SUPER under the hood. It comes with the latest RTX 2080 Super with Max-Q and RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q as well. Both comes with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM. The storage configuration is very interesting as well: it now comes with 2 x M.2 SSD Slots – that also means, you can do a RAID Setup to make it interesting.
The ports on the AORUS 15G is quite impressive:
It comes with 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-A), 1x Thunderbolt 3 (Type-c), 1 x HDMI 2.0, 1x Mini DP 1.4, a 3.5mm Headphone/Microphone Combo Jack, a RJ-45, a DC-in port and a FULL SIZE SD Card reader. As a content creator myself, the fact that it has a full-Size SD card reader is a must have and with brands removing, I am glad they have managed to include one.

Opinion

Taking a closer look at their new AORUS 15G was very exciting for sure because it’s a much-needed change from its predecessor and shows that they have learned a lot – not just to make any laptop but to make a better laptop. With all these improvements, the 15G only gets exciting from here on. For me, most of the flaws and issue that I had with the 15 is corrected and now all we can do is wait for AORUS to send the sample our way for us to review it in the coming days.
The laptop starts at RM 8,999 and goes all the way till a whopping RM 17,999 – which is not the cheapest laptop in town but for the specification, man this going to be fun. But in the meantime, check out our AORUS 15 review – if you want to get an idea on how it looked and performed.
Huge thanks to AORUS and AORUS Malaysia for inviting us for this session to take a closer look at the all-new AORUS 15G for us to have a 1-on-1 session as well.
