The Republic of Gamers by ASUS is a pretty great gaming laptop lineup and last year, they made their lineup a lot clear where they made products tailored for different users – The Strix and the Zephyrus. That said, ASUS Malaysia invited us over to take a closer look at their upcoming lineup with the latest specification – namely two important difference: a new 10th Generation Intel Processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX Super GPU on top of the other tweaks that they have done to their lineup.
ROG Strix and Strix Scar
ASUS finally drops the numbering on their Strix laptop – making it easier for consumers (and us). That said, they now have 4 new laptops under this particular series. The Strix G15 and G17, and a higher tier Strix Scar 15 and 17.
The Strix G15 and G17 is now powered by Intel Core i7 10th Generation -10875H with 8 cores and 16 threads followed by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super with ROG Boost. The display now goes upto 240Hz with 3ms. In terms of upgradability they have went all in here – it now features 3 (yes people, three) M.2 Slots with support for dual NVMe SSD in RAID 0 and support for WiFi 6 as well. It comes with the Wrap around light bar which lights up the whole laptop and it comes in three different colors – Original Black, Glacier Blue and Electro Punk.
The Strix Scar 15 and 17 on the other hand is even beefier than ever – this time, it rocks up to an Intel Core i9-10980HK Processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. As for the GPU, it rocks up to an RTX 2070 Super with ROG Boost up to 1540Hz at 115W. The display is now cranked up to 300Hz with 3ms response time. Again, for the storage – they have opted in for 3 M.2 Slots with dual NVMe SSDs in RAID 0. Rejoice RGB lovers, the keyboard now has per key RGB on top of the wrap around light bar that glows. The Scar is the only laptop that comes with the Keystone 2 which has undergone quite the number of upgrades – which you can check out below.
ROG Zephyrus S15 and S17

The ROG Zephyrus S15 and S17 is a refresh to the S Series which we have seen in the past. This time around – not only it got the Intel 10th Gen Processor treatment – Core i7-10875H and NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super with ROG Boost but it now has a 300Hz/3ms IPS Level display with Pantone Validation and rocks G Sync with NVIDIA Optimus technology. On top of that it rocks the new AAS (Active Aerodynamic System) for improved thermals and now the laptop comes with pre-applied Liquid Metal Compound for processors.
ROG Zephyrus M15
Now this is the head turner among the bunch. The Zephyrus M15 is the design of choice for 2020. It follows the exact looks of the G14 but with a little bling on the back. The whole laptop has a reinforced magnesium alloy chassis which weighs in at 1.9kg and 18.9mm thin. It comes in three different color – Prism Grey (which we got to see and happens to be my favorite), Prism Black and Brushed Black. In terms of specification, it comes with the latest Intel Core i7-10875H with 8 Cores and 16 Thread followed by NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super with ROG Boost, a dual M.2 NVMe SSD slot under RAID 0 Configuration and for audio, they went with ESS Sabre DAC built right into the laptop. Now, the display – users can choose between a 240Hz/3ms or an 4K Adobe RGB Display. Both the display will be Pantone Validated of course.

So, there you have it – ASUS ROG’s new lineup’s specification is quite the killer with these RTX Super and 10th Generation Intel Processor. In fact, they have gone to a point where they have included features which used to be found in expensive laptops like RAID 0 configuration over to their Strix and Zephyrus lineup – which is amazing. I have my eyes fixated on the Zephyrus M15 because of its new design and the fact that it has an ESS Sabre Audio DAC built right into it. We have no words on the pricing, but we will update you once we get more information on that.
Huge thanks to ASUS Malaysia | Republic of Gamers for inviting us over to take a closer look at these amazing devices.
