One issue that recently sprouted out of nowhere was this whole green tint issue with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra with the Green Tint on the display which makes the display look weird. So, far the story goes like this – it’s only the S20 Ultra that has been facing this issue and Samsung accepted the flaw and immediately went to rescue with their new update which supposedly claims to fix the issue but they revoked the update.
Thing is – it might not be just the Ultra’s that may have been affected because one of our two review sample (Retail Variants) from Samsung – which we have returned as of this article has been published – has the same problem and it’s the Samsung Galaxy S20.
How does the Green Tint appear?
As per SamMobile’s report, The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Exynos Variant has been causing these issues. On top of that, switching the Galaxy S20 Ultra to a higher refresh rate and lowering the brightness causes the whole problem in a lot of application.

Initially, when we reviewed – we came across this weird green tint and it would just vanish at certain brightness. But then we realized something wasn’t right because our S20, which is Samsung’s smallest flagship smartphone we love has the same problem. That said, we decided to just run a simple test to see the Green tint and how prominent it is. As for comparison we used the Galaxy S20+. At the lowest and the highest brightness, the tint vanishes completely making the display look all fine. As you look at the 25-75% range of brightness, that’s where the green tint is very obvious. It comes and goes as a gradient. It was really hard for us to capture but we tried our best. If you happen to own any of the Galaxy S20 Smartphone, try it and let us know.
Thing is we wanted to update the firmware to see if the issue still persists, and sadly it does. We have reached out to Samsung Malaysia for comment and we will update this article soon. But so far what we know is – Samsung is working on a fix and it will hopefully hit your phones real soon. So there’s light at the end of the tunnel, worry not.
By the way, this still doesn’t change the fact that these are great phones. It makes me happy that brands like Samsung takes consumers issue seriously and act upon it despite the tough time we are all facing right now, so, we have to give credits where its due.
