With the pandemic that is COVID-19, more and more companies are throwing resources at the combat against the disease be it directly for curative efforts or to help ease the lives of people affected by it. Spotify is just one of the many, having drawn up several plans to support the fight.
Spotify have just announced the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief* project that recommends verified organisations that offer financial relief to the needy among the music community. The company plans to match dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $10 million through public donations. The company is also working to allow artists to fund-raise directly from fans to destinations of their own choice via the artists’ profile pages.
The company have also contributed to public health organisations such as the CDC Foundation Emegency Response Fund and COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO. With the funds, there can be a better effort in helping the community detect and respond to COVID-19, deploy emergency staffing and deliver vital essentials to quarantined indivuals.
Besides that, the company has been donating advertisement inventory and platform space for sharing of news and information with users of the music streaming service. A dedicated COVID-19 hub has been created to provide listeners a one-stop place for the latest news and information on the pandemic.
