After the long wait, Sony finally unveils the new PlayStation 5 for the first time. That said, the console does not look anything like its predecessor but boasts a look that is alienated, different and unique to a point that it can definitely stand out from the rest. Alongside with the console, they announced new titles that will be coming to the console and the peripherals made available. In this article we are going to touch base on everything and keep it short.

PS5: A Look at the Console and Peripherals

The moment you look at the console, it sure as heck does not look anything like the processor and rocks an alienated look overall. Unlike PS4 which has a Pro Variant, the PS5 has two variants which is totally different from what we have seen in the past. There’s the normal PS5 with a Disk Slot and the Digital Edition where the disk slot is not available – with consumers going full on digital, it’s an interesting variant to have if you ask me.

On close up, it does look like the white part of the Sony PS5 is made out of Leather or Faux Leather, at least that’s how the texture seems to look like and on the front, the console features 4 different ports. On top it has a USB-A and a Type-C and at the bottom it does have a small slit like port – one wider and the other one narrower. We aren’t too sure what these do or if this is the consoles button – but we will find out more when the time comes.

1/5

Sony’s lineup of accessories with the PS5 is pretty darn cool. For the most part the console has a new Controller – the DualSense Wireless Controller. There’s a charging Station which looks extremely sick, a HD Camera, probably for PS Move Games or Motion based, the new Pulse 3D Wireless Headset and finally Sony brings back brings back the Media Remote, which brings back the reminiscent of the PS2 era.

As for the specification, the PS5 rocks the following:

  • CPU: x86-64 AMD Ryzen Zen 2 Architecture
    • 8 Cores, 16 Threads with Variable Frequency up to 3.5GHz
  • AMD Radeon RDNA 2-based Graphics Engine
    • Ray Tracing Acceleration
    • Variable frequency, up to 2.23GHz (10.3TFLOPS_
  • 16GB GDDR6 Memory | 448GB/s Bandwidth
  • 825GB Custom SSD with 5.5GB/s Read Bandwidth (RAW)
  • PS4 Game Disc:
    • Ultra HD Blu-ray, upto 100GB/disc
  • Support for 4K 120Hz TVs, 8K TVs, VRR (Specified by HDMI Ver 2.1)
  • Tempest 3D AudioTechnology
