NVIDIA’s latest GeForce RTXTM GPUs launched a few weeks ago to much hype by gaming fans and the technology community alike, and it is only natural that their GPU manufacturing partners come up with their own interpretation of the GPUs. GIGABYTE Malaysia launches two of their takes on the RTXTM 3080 with the GIGABYTE GeForce RTXTM 3080 GAMING OC 10G and the GeForce RTXTM 3080 EAGLE OC 10G.

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC

Both the GAMING OC and EAGLE OC versions of the RTX 3080 cards by GIGABYTE feature the company’s WINDFORCE 3X cooling system with an uniquely-designed fans that has an alternate spinning pattern and lubricated by nano graphene, as well as a large heat dissipation surface made up of large copper plates and heat pipes. The graphene nano lubricant is said to be capable of pushing the longevity of the fans by up to 2.1 times, close to that of a double ball bearing design, while also reducing the fan noises.

The graphics cards both utilises a multi-phase power supply design so the MOSFET on the boards can operate at lower temperatures, while also featuring protective mechanisms against overheating and imbalances of load. GIGABYTE’s Ultra Durable chokes and capacitors are also incorporated into the board design to boost performance and longevity of the components. PCIe 4.0×16 makes its appearance as well as output through 3 DisplayPort 1.4a and 2 HDMI 2.1 ports.

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 EAGLE OC

The immediately visible difference between GIGABYTE’s two versions of the RTXTM 3080 would be their cooling shroud design, with the EAGLE OC sporting a much subtler look from its stealthy grey colour and hints of RGB with support for GIGABYTE’s RGB Fusion 2.0, while the GAMING OC has a wider colour variance of the monochromatic kind and again features RGB (because GAMERS who does GAMING likes RGB, obviously). Both cards also feature a reinforced metal back plate that provides structural strength and prevents PCB bending.

Interestingly, GIGABYTE decided to omit the 12-pin connectors for power delivery introduced on the reference designs from NVIDIA, instead opting for a more traditional dual 8-pin design commonly seen in yesteryear’s power-hungry top tier GPUs. It is a choice that would be much friendlier for users who already own a PC and not looking to upgrade their power supply unit or do not own an adaptor for the different connectors. The GAMINC OC variant also sports a Dual BIOS system for users to choose between Silent and OC mode.

Pricing & Availability
