NAS are quite popular and there aren’t a lot of value for money NAS you could find in the market, but to our surprise TerraMaster has some cool NAS for users who want a good experience for a decent cost. That said, they have announced a new NAS with 10GbE Networking, which is the F2-422. Not too long ago they announced the 4 Bay version but now we have the 2-Bay variant for those who need just that.
TerraMaster F2-422
Under the hood of the TerraMaster F2-422, its powered by an Intel Celeron Quad-core Processor clocked in at 1.5GHz and can give a turbo boost of 2.3GHz respectively, paired with 4GB DDR3 RAM. On the back, you’ll notice that it features 2 Ethernet ports, one of them is the 10GbE and additional two 1GbE ports – in the RJ45 interface which we all pretty much use on a universal standard basis. With that said, it supports AES NI hardware encryption and with multi layer data protection, which in my opinion is a must in today’s world. The SSD Caching in the system also helps you reduce I/O latency and improve storage efficiency significantly.
There are multiple Backup app you can choose from the TerraMaster TOS System which includes AOEMI Backupper, Time Machine, Duple Backup and others with features like multiple data storage option. It even supports multi-version backup, incremental, scheduled and one-key restore function as well. To make it interesting, it supports VirtualBox and Docker for those who need such professional features.
Variants and Pricing
As I mentioned earlier, the F2-422 (2-Bay) comes in other bay configurations: F4-422 (4-Bay), F5-422 (5-Bay), and F8-422 (8-Bay) Professional NAS devices. So, you can pick up which fits your need. The Terra Master F2-422 is priced at $359.99 USD which roughly converts to RM1,495 respectively. There isn’t any update on when it will be made available in the Malaysian market, but we will keep you posted on when it will be made available.
