LEGO and Nintendo announced their collaboration back in July 2020 with the release of the theme and a Nintendo NES set in August, quick to amass a fanbase of the sets released under the collaboration. The LEGO Group now looks to give more options for existing owners and to rake in new fans with the release of a whole new range of sets and Collectible Characters.
LEGO Super Mario
The first of the new sets is the Master Your Adventure Maker Set which is a toolbox that allows complete customisation of the building process, play time and coin earning. The included Customisation Machine now allows for customisation of LEGO Mario’s reaction to Special Bricks, while a new Start Pipe now shuffles the play rules and challenges players to play faster for more rewards.
The Series 2 of LEGO Super Mario Character Packs is debuted featuring an action tag that LEGO Mario recognizes and integrates into the gameplay. Featuring ten brand new characters, the new Collectible Character Packs remain mysterious until opened so players might be getting either a Huckit Crab, Spiny Cheep Cheep, Ninji, Foo, Parachute Goomba, Fly Guy, Poison Mushroom, Para-Beetle, Thwimp or a Bone Goomba.
Other sets introduced are the Chain Chomp Jungle Encounter Expansion Set, the Piranha Plant Puzzling Challenge Expansion Set, the Wiggler’s Poison Swamp Expansion Set, Panguin Mario Power-Up Pack and the Tanooki Mario Power-Up Pack. These new sets and characters allow users to play as either Penguin Mario or Tanooki Mario with unique character movements, as well as introducing favourite enemy characters from the Mario world to be defeated for coin rewards.
Pricing & Availability
The new LEGO Super Mario sets and characters are set for an official release for purchase on the 1st of January 2021 through all of LEGO Certified Stores, LEGO Official Store on Lazada and Shopee, LEGOLAND as well as major retailers and department stores carrying the brand in Malaysia.
