We have to give credit where its due. Content is king and Clubhouse opened up a whole new array of social network where common minds that think alike can come together and talk about topics – be it a fun one or a serious one that is. But that initial “exclusivity” with Apple devices left a sore spot for users who belong in Team Green, that is android. Although now its available and the whole trend is over, Spotify – the leading music streaming platform has unveiled the contender to Clubhouse and that’s Spotify Greenroom. You know what, personally – I am liking it.

Spotify Greenroom

Just like what clubhouse intended to be, Spotify Greenroom is a social audio app from Spotify where it allows users to host and even participate in discussions that happens within the app through virtual rooms. These rooms are places where you can listen and talk about things users love with artists and fans that shares similar interests. The thing about Greenroom is that it’s made available with both Apple App Store and Google Play Store – so, none of that exclusivity or elitist treatment going on. To even register, you could sign up with a new account or simply just use your Spotify account to sign up.

As of right now, according to Spotify Greenroom is available in countries where Spotify is available, and the app is only made available in English for the time being. The best part about Greenroom is that – it isn’t tied to their Streaming app and you do not need any kind of subscription, that means – it’s a free to use app for anyone and everyone. The app uses a simple reward system called Gems – basically a way of liking something a speaker says and all you have to do is double-tap on their profile icon to give them a Gem. As always, there are contents prohibited and it’s the usual stuff like hate content, violence and so on.

How to Sign up?

For now, Spotify Greenroom is on Early Access – which means the app can be a bit glitchy and could take time to get used to, that sort of thing – but good thing is that you can, download the app on your preferred app store and get it up and running. It’s as simple as that.

So, are you going to leave Clubhouse for Greenroom? We are and you can find us at @jayaprithiviraj. 😊
