Garmin Malaysia today introduced the Descent G1 and Descent G1 Solar watch-style dive computers, which feature cutting-edge dive technology for more thorough and safer dives.
The Descent G1 has 24/7 health and wellness monitoring as well as wristwatch functionality, whereas the Descent G1 Solar has the same specifications but with the addition of solar charging.
The G1 introduces a new compact design into the dive portfolio that is purpose-built in both form and function, with an easy-to-read, high-contrast display and 45mm watch case.
The G1 is water-rated to 10 ATM (100 metres) and tested to engineering standards for diving compliance, with leak-proof inductive buttons and a sapphire lens. It’s tough and ready for adventures above and below the water’s surface.
Multiple dive modes for single and multiple gas dives (including air, nitrox, trimix, and 100% O2), gauge, apnea, apnea hunt, and closed-circuit rebreather are supported by the Descent G1 Series. A 3-axis digital compass and vibration depth alarms are also included in the G1 series.
Using multi-GNSS satellite support, the G1 will automatically designate surface entry and exit sites in the water and log them in the associated Garmin Dive app.
Furthermore, the G1 Series offers a plethora of health features such as advanced sleep tracking with sleep scores and a choice of built-in indoor and GPS sports apps.
Garmin’s comprehensive array of advanced fitness capabilities, including VO2 Max, Fitness Age, Training Status, Recovery Time, HIIT Workouts, and Daily Suggested Workouts, will be used to track and measure performance with the G1 Series.
When coupled with a compatible smartphone, users can receive notifications for calls, texts, calendar reminders, social network updates, breaking news articles, and more in between activities. The Descent G1 Series, like all Garmin smartwatches, can be used with either Android or Apple devices.
Pair the G1 Series with an inReach Mini satellite communicator for off-grid activities, and when topside, send and receive messages from the wrist, as well as trigger an interactive SOS in case of emergency.
Use the inReach Mini Dive Case (available separately) to safeguard the device and have peace of mind anytime you surface. The G1 Series allows users to invite friends and family to track their live position while participating in certain outdoor activities.
If an event is identified, Garmin Connect Mobile can send a message to the user’s emergency contacts with their name and location (if available).
Garmin Descent G1 Series price and availability
The Descent G1 and Descent G1 Solar are now available on Lazada, Shopee, AECO e-store, and all authorised merchants for RM2,570 and RM3,030, respectively. The Descent G1 will be available in two colours; Storm Grey and Powder Grey while the Descent G1 Solar also comes in two colours; Black and Hurrican Blue.
