Lenovo today unveiled its latest series of elegant and powerful gaming laptops: the Lenovo Legion 7i and 7 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 and 7i.

The Lenovo Legion 7i and 7 are designed to be mobile powerhouses with Lenovo packing in an awesome amount of power and performance in a sleek, stylish,  and sports-tuned design. It also features an improved hinge and I/O dashboard compared to the last generation.

Lenovo claims that the Lenovo Legion 7i and 7 are the world’s first gaming laptops with a 16-inch WQXGA screen and they also come with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The laptops’ displays also have a peak brightness of up to 1,250 nits, full DCI-P3 colour space coverage, a high dynamic range, and TÜV eye-safe certification.

The displays also feature a refresh rate of up to 240Hz with a standard refresh rate of 165Hz. Tobii Horizon software, which provides a more immersive gaming experience, and Tobii Aware, which employs smart sensor technology to assist improve users’ security, privacy, and welfare, are also included in the Lenovo Legion 7i and Legion 7 laptops.

The Lenovo Legion 7i and 7 are equipped with up to 12th Gen Intel Core HX Series or AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processors, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU (up to 175W TGP) or AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT mobile graphics, DDR5 memory, and Gen 4 PCIe SSD storage. All are tuned for maximum performance by the Lenovo Legion A.I. Engine 2.0.

This A.I. engine can predict fan curves and balance GPU and CPU resource output in real-time based on the game to offer optimal performance. Its A.I. calibration can also intelligently enhance the Lenovo Legion Coldfront 4.0 thermal system to cool the GPU and CPU with up to 115W of thermal capacity without throttling.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and 7 offer a slimmer profile at 2kg and 16mm without skimping on power and performance.

Both laptops are equipped with the most recent 12th Gen Intel Core H Series or AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processors. With the laptops’ upgraded and dedicated back I/O dashboard with HDMI 2.1, users will require fewer adapters on the go while enjoying unmatched range with a 99.99Whr capacity battery and up to 135 Whr USB Type-C Fast Charging.

With TÜV Rheinland Gold Label certification, the huge 16-inch display also allows gamers to discover new pixel-perfect worlds of dazzling colour and shadow, with colour calibration software support, high dynamic range, and up to DCI P3 colour accuracy – all without straining their eyes.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 series has also increased the active area ratio of its 16-inch WQXGA display from 86% to 93% with a 16:10 aspect ratio from generation to generation for even more immersive viewing.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 series is offered in three-panel configurations with selectable refresh rates ranging from 165Hz to 240Hz and optional Mini-LED.

A 29% increase in size; 31% more liquid crystal polymer fan blades that are also 40% thinner, while spinning 100rpm faster thanks to a dual-fan system; an additional copper heat pipe dedicated solely to the GPU VRAM; and a coating of phase-change thermal compound to boost heat sink effectiveness are among the generational improvements to the thermal system.

Lenovo engineers also included a sub-key air intake system in the keyboard, which has over 1,172 intake vents and 1.3mm soft-landing switches for faster, more accurate key strikes. These design and technical enhancements combine to produce fan noise of less than 30 decibels while in Stealth Mode, which roughly corresponds to the voice of a whisper.

Last but not least, the on-device application designed to simplify gaming is available on all Lenovo Legion PCs. Lenovo’s Legion Arena is a gaming platform that consolidates all of a user’s PC games into a centralised hub, linking to major platforms and online stores from a single spot for a seamless and efficient gaming experience.

Price and availability

The Legion 7i with Intel Core processor starts at USD2,449 and will be released in May 2022. The Legion 7, AMD Advantage Edition with AMD Ryzen processor, is priced at USD2,059 and will be available in June 2022.

The Legion Slim 7i with Intel Core processor is priced at USD1,589 and will be released in May 2022. The Legion Slim 7, AMD Advantage Edition with AMD Ryzen processor, is priced at USD1,519 and will be available in June 2022.
