With our lives going back to close to normal slowly, and a lot of sectors opening one at a time, we are starting to spend less time at home. Most of us now with working at offices, it can get tiring to come home and do chores as it is technically a second job. But how about getting a robot vacuum that doesn’t just clean but cleans good enough that you can come home to a squeaky-clean floor. In this Roborock S7 MaxV Review, we are going to point out how well it has improved over its predecessor.

Still Round, but more nicer Design Cues

1/5

Yes, the Roborock S7 MaxV doesn’t have a drastic design change for it to stand apart from its predecessor. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t look different. There are some improved design cues that makes the vacuum look a lot more premium and sleeker than the S6 MaxV. For one, you can notice the now-matte-finish which is stunning (versus the glossy finish which is prone to a lot of little subtle scratches), and it has a very timeless finish which I love.

The vacuum also has bits of Carbon Fiber pattern printed on it to give it a “racing-like” look. It doesn’t end there. There are some red stripes on the side with the VibraRise text on the side. Overall, it does look great. The Vacuum still sports that top protruded part which has the sensors for it to do its mapping.

A Whole new book with few pages from the S6 MaxV

The principle as to how it works is the same from its brethren S6 MaxV. But most of it you see here is different for better and something I am genuinely impressed with.

App Experience is one of the best I’ve used for IOT

Every brand has its advantage, like Dyson have some impressive tech to back that marvellous product of theirs. In the Robot Vacuum market, Roborock is the one to beat as they offer the best experience you can get as compared to any other brand that “tries” to even offer a sliver of what Roborock does. The moment you take it out of the box, turn it on and download the app, every step is easy to follow. That makes the app, user friendly towards all kind of users.

Once you do set it up properly, it will guide you on how the app works. In our case, we were prompted with an update for the vacuum to improve its Reactive AI, Recognition, and bugs. Updates are crucial to a better experience and Roborock seems to be consistent. I can say this as my experience with the S6 MaxV has been good in the software department. After, doing all that you should – the app has plethora of settings and options for you to toggle.

One of the features that was highlighted, is how the Vacuum can now do Video calling via the phone. Which means if you happen to be away from home and want to contact the folks at home, you can do so with the help of the call feature. Interestingly, this feature will only work if you enable it when you’re at home. A particularly good measure to keep it within the home network and protect from hackers tampering the vacuum in any way possible.

There’s nothing much to say about the app as it’s the same application I used with the S6 MaxV. Exceptionally clean. Intuitive. You could teach people at home on how to let it do the job when you are away. The app also gives you updates if the clean is done, what’s the battery percentage like and even the water reservoir for mopping the floor.

Absolute Step Up in Cleaning Experience

To be very honest, as much as the Roborock S6 MaxV did its job quite alright, it wasn’t the best robot vacuum when it comes to cleaning in different surfaces. Usually, I’d have to come back home to pick up from where the S6 MaxV has left off. So, I’d take my cordless vacuum to do the areas where it didn’t do a respectable job to clean. That changes with the Roborock S7 MaxV.

During the first two tries, me being the skeptical person that I am – sat on top of my table and observed how well does the cleaning happen. To my surprise, the Roborock S7 MaxV is at the pinnacle of robot vacuum cleaning. For one, the measly 2100 Pascal suction power from the S6 MaxV has been upgraded to a whopping 5100Pa – creating a much more powerful suction power and better cleaning entirely. Which means those particles that really is a pain to clean, can now be sucked into the container with no issues at all.

I have a carpet mat of sorts under my desk where I rest my legs. The S6 MaxV has an issue maneuvering around carpets and the plate on the back for the mop mechanism is fixed in one position by default. That’s not the case with the Roborock S7 MaxV. The Mop plate gets lifted automatically when it detects there’s a carpet ahead without needing to stop the cleaning process.

Finally, the sonic mopping with the VibraRise technology, it is more effective towards tough stains on the floor. There’s an interesting vibration motor that now vibrates up to 3000 times per minute. I can only say so much but it is one to feel to believe. After a good session of vacuuming and mopping, walking on the surface feels nice with no feel of dirt to the legs, whatsoever. I do wish the Roborock S7 MaxV comes equipped with two spinning brush that pushes all the dirt that’s away from the vacuum into its suction hole.

If ReactAI was Prototype, this ReactAI 2.0 is really the Real Deal

Personally, I was a bit skeptical as to how well ReactAI would work, map, and learn. The S6 MaxV had a very “early-adopter” hardware which did have the right ideas in mind. But once again, it’s the Roborock S7 MaxV that takes the idea and makes it better. Finally, the 3D Mapping, which is done with the help of LiDAR sensor, is now sharper, it can map quite a distance (Approx. 60cm vs the 15-30cm with S6 MaxV). This mapping isn’t just mapping for the sake of it, but the precision as to finding out where is the object really is, it’s more precise.

Not just that, the LiDAR combined with the Camera detects object well too. Let it roam and it can tell if it sees a power outlet, carpet, home slippers or even other miscellaneous object. When it does go under a shelve or a darker area for that matter, the Roborock S7 MaxV now has a torch light built into it which it uses for the cleaning processes. It also uses the same light to get out of the darker area, out into the light. Trust me, it’s a cute thing to see.

Conclusion

If Money isn’t an issue…

Get the Roborock S7 MaxV. Even if it’s something you can’t afford just yet, I’d say, save up. Personally, I have never been a fan of such robotic Vacuums as they do an incomplete job. I said that with the S6 MaxV but can’t say the same for the S7 MaxV. If your house or your residence has the right kind of setup to let this roam around, let it take care of the dirty business. You can come back home after a long day of work, crack a can of cold drink, and sit in that clean space of yours.

The Roborock S7 MaxV is priced at RM 3,399, making it a worthy investment over other cheaper alternatives that doesn’t clean as well as this does. Oh, and you could even get a refillable station, making life easier too.
