In the past two months, we saw Dyson unveiling two different vacuums – Micro and Omniglide+ to add to their current lineup which gives consumers the option to choose based on their budget. This month, we have a vacuum that isn’t replacing any, but it is stepping the whole cleaning experience to a whole another level with giving consumers the ability to see what has been hiding in plain sight – meet the Dyson V12 Detect Slim, the first Vacuum with Laser Detect Technology – now available in Malaysia and here’s everything about it.

Dyson V12 Detect Slim

The Dyson V12 Detect Slim is the younger brethren of the V15 Detect which is available in select countries but for the most part it has pretty much the same thing going on under the hood. That said, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim is much more intelligent in every way possible.

Laser Dust Detection

Starting off with the Laser Dust Detection. This particular technology and idea came about when the Dyson Engineer noticed the airborne particles in their home glistened in the sun. So, after so many experiments, this particular solution came to life. These vacuums use an adapted laser technology to reveal hidden dust by integrating a diode laser into the cleaner head, positioning it at exactly 1.5-degree angle and 7.3mm off the ground as it provides the best contrast into the cleaner’s head. So, this particular laser then shows the hidden dust on the floor surface which is usually invisible to our naked eye.

Piezo Sensor to Detect Microparticles

Detecting aside, Dyson went as far as integrating an Acoustic Piezo Sensor into the system – and it gets interesting from here. Generally, these dusts can’t be quantified properly as they are smaller than what we can see – pretty much small that you need a microscope to see them. So, when the carbon fiber filaments on the cleaner head sucks the microscopic particles are counted up to 15,000 times a second.

The Dust then enters the vacuum and hits the acoustic piezo sensor within the bin inlet creating tiny vibrations which is then converted to electrical signals. Then these electrical signals are then outputted through the new digital display on the top of the vacuum which shows the different sizes of particles captured and it’s also proof that the Dyson V12 Detect does deep cleaning.

Anti-Tangle Hair Screw Tool

Now, if you remember – when we vacuum, the cleaner heads regardless of which vacuum it is, it gets stuck in the head and becomes a hassle to clean. So, Dyson once again went back to the board to create a new anti-tangle conical brush bar which spirals hair off into the bin, therefore preventing the hair getting wrapped around the brush bar. They did not only test with human hair, but with pets too as they do shed a lot – so the whole tool has been tweaked with the precise angle of the bristles on the tool, so that it doesn’t tangle regardless of the hair type.

Upgraded HEPA Filtration

They have steeped up the filtration technology – to 5-stage advanced filtration technologies, which captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns and only expels clean air. As we all know, the Dyson Cyclone technology which we have seen with every other product is efficient in separating dust and dirt from the surfaces. So, worry not about leaking any of the particle contained air.

As for the rest of the vacuum, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim uses the latest Dyson Hyperdymium motor which generates up to 150 air watts of powerful suction, a good 60-minutes cleaning hours with a fully charged battery, weighs in at just 2.2kg and these V12 Detect Slim ditches the trigger-based power control for a single “big red button” for easy and comfortable user experience.

Dyson V12 Detect Slim Variants

Now the Dyson V12 Detect Slim comes in three different variants for consumers to purchase – starting with the Fluffy, followed by Total Clean and finally the Absolute Extra (It’s pretty extra really.). Now, all the three vacuums mentioned above performs the same, everything is pretty much the same really – now what varies are the tools. Below, we have made a table where you can see which Dyson V12 Detect Slim will include the respective tools.

Technically, it’s a package option you can choose from which is a good thing but take note that the Floor Dock won’t be sold separately according to Dyson, but you can purchase Spare Battery. Something to take note of.

Pricing and Availability

The Dyson V12 Detect Slim starts at RM 2999 with the Fluffy, followed by RM 3299 for the Total Clean and finally RM 3899 for the Absolute Extra. But regardless of whichever you get, the experience is totally worth it and the Laser System which is the key highlight of the product comes as a default with every variant. Starting today, 24th August, you can purchase the Dyson V12 Detect Slim from or through Dyson Stores located in Malaysia.

For now, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim Fluffy is made available whereas the Total Clean and Absolute Extra will be available on a later date, which we will keep you updated with.
