DJI has announced the  DJI RS 3 and DJI RS 3 Pro, two new camera gimbals with advanced features specifically tailored for creators to go beyond with their projects.

DJI RS 3

The new DJI RS 3 includes an axes-locking system that releases and unfolds automatically when the user simply turns the gimbal, allowing the user to start using the RS 3 immediately. Tapping the power button once puts the gimbal into sleep mode for easier portability. The RS 3 also comes with a Bluetooth Shutter Button that can automatically connect to the user’s camera.

There’s also a 1.8-inch OLED full-colour touchscreen, an increase of 80% surface area compared to the RCS 2. What’s more, is that users don’t have to go through the hassle of connecting the gimbal to the mobile app as the controls are available physically on hand.

The DJI RS 3 is also a light camera gimbal, weighing under 1.3kg and can support devices up to under 3kg, enough for most mainstream devices. The new gimbal touts the 3rd-Gen RS Stabilization Algorithm which DJI claim is 20% better in performance over the RSC 2.

The DJI RS 3 can be used with lenses with focal lengths of up to 100mm and has a SuperSmooth mode that helps with stabilisation even further. The RS 3 also comes with 12 hours of battery life and supports PD 18W fast charging.

DJI RS 3 Pro

The new DJI RS 3 Pro offers a lot more features than the base model. The RS 3 Pro is lighter and stronger than previous iterations and has been optimised to keep its weight at 1.5 kg with a maximum supported weight of 4.5kg. It also includes automated axis locks, Bluetooth Shutter Button, 1.8-inch OLED touchscreen, and gimbal mode switch of the RS 3.

The RS 3 Pro incorporates Ronin 4D’s sophisticated LiDAR focusing technology to produce the new DJI LiDAR Range Finder (RS), which can project 43,200 ranging points within a 14-meter indoor space. A next-generation focus motor provides three times the torque with one-step attachment, allowing autofocus on manual lenses without the need for repetitive calibration.

Furthermore, the LiDAR Range Finder has a DJI-developed microprocessor identical to the one used in the Ronin 4D and a built-in 30mm camera, increasing ActiveTrack’s computing capability by more than 60 times, resulting in ActiveTrack Pro.

The DJI RS 3 Pro can connect to various accessories via its dual RSA/NATO port and battery port. These include a new  Briefcase Handle, Twist Grip Dual Handle, and Tethered Control Handle. The RS 3 Pro is also open for third-party support since the DJI RS SDK protocol enables third-party manufacturers and individual developers to create customised shooting solutions.
